Yesterday I ran away! I left my dh with our three littles, my 4 yo grand daughter, and a friends 2 boys 15 and 13. They were helping him work on the freezer. I told him I had the debit card and the cell phone I would be back....................maybe. I really did have a wonderful afternoon. I didn't even turn the radio on in the truck. I took the long way to get feed and stopped by sonic for a java chiller. I liked Dairy Queens version until I tried Sonics. Now I have to limit me. I would find excuses to go have one way to often. After I picked up a ton of feed I went on to town. I checked out Big Lots and Wal Mart. You know how you hear people say they spend more when they have the kids with them? Well I am the opposite. I spend more when I have quite and can look and think and not rush. I found flannel sheets for the RV. They were clearance at $5. These were the twin size. I also got a shower caddy for my kitchen to keep milking stuff in. I think it will help get the clutter off the cabinet. I thought it was funny I had 3 different employees ask me where my kids were, or other wise say I was missing some. Two at Wal-Mart and one at Big Lots. I really think my kids get noticed because they are well behaved and usually talk to the checkers asking questions and we are in there at strange times for kids since we homeschool.
Some one ask me about my sheep and wanted pictures. My sheep are a mixed lot of everything not W. Texas. The buck/ram is a dorper cross. I really do like the dorper. They seem to be calm and easy to handle. The lambs are small at birth and come out fighting. They are hardy and want to live. Here are some of my lambs last night when I was feeding.
Here are my ewes waiting for me to open the gate to the feed.
See what I mean about them being a mix of everything? Some are barabado mix, some are romonaf mix neither of which I spelled right. The older ewes are all bottle babies. I then kept the ewe lambs which were out of a dorper buck. Older ewes are gentle, some of the young ewes aren't that gentle. Here is the picture of the baby I pulled. He was escaping from the box before bed time so he got to go to the barn.
Last night he got to nurse off of his new mama, a goat. He will lead a confused life. I do wish it was a ewe lamb, but no such luck.
Dh and his young helpers got a lot done toward the walk in freezer yesterday. Not as much as they wanted, but some. For now it is just a layer of cinder blocks. But they do have one full layer done. Digging down and getting the bricks all level was a tough job. He didn't work them to hard since they went hunting last night with my 21 yo son. I think I heard them come in about 3 am. At least the dogs woke me up about then barking. They spent the night at my son's house, next door. I wonder will they sleep in church today? Maybe us moms will keep elbowing them enough to keep them awake.
If I am going to make it to church in time I better stop typing and start chores. All be blessed! |
