Today the temps are nice. It is about 85 degrees at 4 pm. One of my kids came in and ask if they could swim. My first reaction was, "WHAT?!?!?!" After a thought about how fun it would be to see them wet I changed it to "Sure!" They took off upstairs to change, then decided to "check" the water first. The 7 yo assured the 11 yo it wasn't THAT cold. They would get use to it. So off to put on swimsuits. Remember less than a week ago it was 10 for a low. Once they came down stairs I told DH I wouldn't be long but I wanted to document the first swim of the year! After much sticking of toes in the water and talking about how cold it was finally T took the plunge, and bounced out so fast I didn't get the picture! I couldn't get her to go back for a second picture! As you can see I did get her dripping her way out of the pool. MJ never managed to get the nerve up to get more than his big toe wet. After she "swam" I allowed her hot chocolate. Now they are off to a better form of winter entertainment, bike riding.
While I was doing one on what we do here to stay entertained I thought I would share our newest "toy". I bought this harness for the kids and the pet goat. His name is Trouble and he lives up to it. He isn't wild about leading without the harness on, and with, well it tends to be entertaining. They have only played a couple of times with him. He will get better with time. If I can get a real wagon, or at least traces where the cart doesn't bump him in the bottom when he stops it will work better. Leading would help, but I guess they can all work that out. Maybe I will bring him and the cart to our next play day and let ALL the kids play!!! |
