Today the temps are nice.  It is about 85 degrees at 4 pm.  One of my kids came in and ask if they could swim.  My first reaction was, "WHAT?!?!?!"  After a thought about how fun it would be to see them wet I changed it to "Sure!"   They took off upstairs to change, then decided to "check" the water first.  The 7 yo assured the 11 yo it wasn't THAT cold.  They would get use to it.   So off to put on swimsuits.   Remember less than a week ago it was 10 for a low.  Once they came down stairs I told DH I wouldn't be long but I wanted to document the first swim of the year!   After much sticking of toes in the water and talking about how cold it was finally T took the plunge, and bounced out so fast I didn't get the picture!  I couldn't get her to go back for a second picture!  As you can see I did get her dripping her way out of the pool.   MJ never managed to get the nerve up to get more than his big toe wet.   After she "swam" I allowed her hot chocolate.  Now they are off to a better form of winter entertainment, bike riding.

While I was doing one on what we do here to stay entertained I thought I would share our newest "toy".  I bought this harness for the kids and the pet goat.  His name is Trouble and he lives up to it.  He isn't wild about leading without the harness on, and with, well it tends to be entertaining.   They have only played a couple of times with him.  He will get better with time.  If I can get a real wagon, or at least traces where the cart doesn't bump him in the bottom when he stops it will work better.   Leading would help, but I guess they can all work that out.  Maybe I will bring him and the cart to our next play day and let ALL the kids play!!!

Sometimes they just have to find things out on thier own, like even if it is 85 degrees in winter it is STILL cold. But it sure is fun being there to watch thier reactions when they DO realize it! LOL Glad you shared! Oh I love the goat and harness pic also. That would be so much fun!

Hi Nola,

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the description of the first swim of 2008!! It made me cold thinking about it...since it is a balmy (for us!) 53 degrees here...we had snow for New Year's!! I am sure our water would be very cold! The pictures are great! The goat and the cart picture is wonderful!

I am off to walk Miss Angel Joy on her evening walk!
Take care,
Mary

I showed my kids your goat picture and now they want a harness for our goat. Well, first they asked if yours was for sale, after I said no, then they decided they wanted a harness for ours.
Blessings,
Rashel

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
