Yesterday morning it was 13!!! This morning so far it is only down to 17. Yesterday it was only suppose to be 20. This morning they were saying 12. It still has a hour before sunrise so it can drop. I think the high today is only in the 40s. It is cold and dry. We really need rain!! I have watched our oats growing out front go from a pretty green to a sorta brownish green. If we don't get rain soon they will be dead.
Lambing is going well. I gave up counting babies. It is like counting flies as they buzz around. I have one set of twins I have been watching since they were born. They were extremely small. They both seem to be doing OK though. Then yesterday morning one of them showed up with a broken leg. I have no idea why! Ds and I caught him and put a piece of pipe wrap around his leg. We secured it with duc tape. He seems to be keeping up with mama just fine. I have another one I can't decide if he knows who mama is or not. I have orange paint strips on him to keep up with which one he is. He seems to be doing OK, but will nurse anything that slows down. I was going to take him to the barn last night, and couldn't catch him.
I have a funny on one of the dogs. Sam, the one that had to have stitches a few weeks ago. The other morning he fell out of the ranger. I guess I helped it along. I was going very slow through the sheep then sped up after I got passed them. He didn't speed up. He tumbled out. I stopped and called him. He hopped up carrying the leg that had stitches, no sound out of though. When he got to the ranger to get in he started yelping. He whin/yelped all the way into the seat beside me. After I was sure he wasn't going to snap at me being "hurt" I snuggled him kind of behind my shoulder, still yelping. He put his head on my shoulder and I leaned mine over on his face telling him how sorry I was he got hurt. He hushed! By the time we got our circle done, he forgot he was hurt. Talk about acting like a kid!!!
Today I am going to attempt cheese! I am thinking Gouda. My dh said he likes it so.......... I need room in the refrigerator. I will let you know how it goes. It only ages 25 days in the frig. So that is a fast cheese. I may also make some mozzarella cheese. That one doesn't have to age.
I am still hand milking. Maybe the milker will be ready today. If it is maybe I will get it when I am in town tomorrow. My dh has a business meeting tomorrow and won't be home. I am never happy when he is gone over night, but such is life. I live with it!
Tomorrow is town day. Kids have therapy and I have a LONG list. The only think I am excited about is buying yarn for a project. I hope my loom is in by the weekend so I can start my project. What is the project you ask? Not sure! I think I still want to try the opera wrap that flopped on the other loom. I still don't really know why it shrank so when I took it off. I guess it was wrapped tighter than I though. Lesson learned, maybe! It does make a nice warm cover for sitting all the way across the room from the wood stove typing on the 'puter. Or it gets used often for a warm grandbaby wrap.
Temps are now down to 13.5 and still falling. I can see light in the eastern sky so daylight is getting close. Wonder how much lower they will go? It is a little after 7 now.
All have a blessed day! Post a commit if you stop by and read this so I know I am not talking to myself. I would love a link to your blog if you have one.
