I really am one of these strange people that love Monday's. I look fwd to getting back into the routine of the week. I usually get my laundry done on Monday. It just helps me feel in control.
One one of the blogs I read they were asking for ways to be more organized. I look at the clutter around me and wonder if I have anything to offer. I am NOT an organized person in my mind. One specific place she was asking for organization was in buying groceries. Hummm maybe I do have an idea. Instead of making a list I have a printed out list of the things I normally buy. This is even stuff I only buy every few months. I also have lines to write in stuff that isn't on the list. Over the years I have tweaked it enough to add those things and take away the things I don't buy. It is easy to send a child to circle something I am low on without having to stop what I am doing. It is also fast to stand in the pantry and scan down the list of foods and compare them to what are on the shelves. I know my list could stand some tweaking again as I have gotten healthier in my buying and cooking. I could scratch the white rice, white sugar, white flour and most processed foods. That wouldn't leave much of a list. I seldom use this list anymore since I buy produce at co-op, wheat in bulk, no milk or eggs or beef, we don't eat out of a box anymore. I used it for years though and it did help. It really helped when money was very tight. I could just buy what was on the sheet and know I had what I needed.
This morning my devotional really made me think. When someone said have a nice day they person replied, "I always say Make it a nice day!" How much of our day is in our choosing to make it good or bad? What can we do to "Make it a nice Day?" not just for us, but for our families? Hearting this challenged this person to make it a nice day in her life. Here are some of the ideas she came up with.
First she made a list of what a nice day would be. That included more prayer time. So she set her alarm 30 minutes early. Splurged on some fancy coffee to drink as she spent more time with God. She decided to have a peaceful prayer time she needed to declutter her prayer area so she started each night putting away 10 things from her living room which is her prayer area. The 10 things led to 20 things and she won the clutter battle in her living area. Just by wanting to "Make it a nice Day" her life changed. How much can we change our life if we set out to "Make it a nice Day"?
I challenge each of you that reads this to "Make it a nice day" this week. Share ideas and ways you come up with to do this.
For me I want to try the 10 items of clutter a night. Only I want to do it several times during the day. I have LOTS of clutter to find new homes for.
