I figured out how to get more commits on my blog.  Take LOTS of pictures!  I so enjoyed every ones commits.  Thank you all for not only stopping by but leaving stuff for me to read.  I started this blog in part because I miss talking to like minded people.   It is hard to find like minded, then add 40 miles out into the sticks and it is really hard!   I use to be on a rural forum that we made some really lasting friendships.  One so lasting I got a wonderful Daughter in Love out of it.   :)   Yes, my DIL is the product of an Internet relationship.  But the relationship started between her mom and I when the kids were about 13 and 14.

I had planned and even took my camera back to the barn.  I got ready to snap pictures and was told low battery.  It is on charge so maybe I can get some pics tomorrow.   Any request on pics?

Yesterday was one of those model home school days with the girls.  They did their school work quickly and correctly.  Then went out to play.  Because they were done so early I was feeling they maybe didn't do enough so I had them come in and bake cookies.  First we had to double the recipe because a single batch of cookies just won't last long enough to make it worth heating the oven.    They had a blast figuring out and writing out the doubled recipe.  I supervised the measuring and I mixed the batter in my kitchen aid.  I don't let anyone mess with it.  Two reason really one I don't want it messed up some how and because it is so powerful it would break fingers or hands if they didn't think and stuck their hand in it.  So mom mixes.   After I showed them how many and how big to make them I left the kitchen.  They then baked all the cookies and cleaned up the mess!!!!!  I hate the putting away all the ingredients and baking.   So it worked well.  The cookies were a big hit!   I will try and post the recipe later today.

This morning I mixed muffins up and the kids filled the tins and baked them.  They look really pretty.  I added trail mix with nuts, raisins, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.  I added flax seeds also.  I would love to pick the raisins out but guess I will eat them.  I am not a raisin fan.

Today I have to get my Melaleuca order done.  If you do it by the 10th you get extra points toward products.  I try to order the bare minimum each month to stay a member.  A friend shared some of their Renew lotion with me.  My hands which have extreme eczema started healing.  They are better than they have been in 10 years.  Yes, it is worth this much a month to be able to buy stuff that helps my hands so.  I try something new each month.  I have likes some of the products and some are OK.  I really haven't found any I totally dislike.   My favorite is the Renew lotion, followed by the automatic dish washing liquid.  It really does cut the build up in my milker.   I use automatic dish soap as it is low sudsing.   I'm not sure what I will try this month. I have heard great things about the candles, but am so cheap I hate to pay that much.  A friend tried some of the cleaner last month and really like it.

I still haven't gotten a gift for my dd for her birthday yet.  Hummm can you say procrastination?   I would have to go to town to do that.   I may go tomorrow and look then get my dh to pick it up for me.   We won't celebrate her birthday until Sat.  Because of my husbands long hours and the big kids schedules weekend Birthdays are the only way to go.

I am looking on line at shock er training collars for dogs.  I really want one that carries a punch that will get a dogs attention.   But I will settle for what they have.   Can you tell I am tired of fighting with a couple of dogs?    I am hoping it will stop some bad behaviours on a couple of our way to many dogs.   I may see if my dh will go by one of the pet stores and pick one up.  I want that instant gratification of getting it NOW. :)

Muffins were good, even with the raisins.  I really don't think I had any in the two I ate.   They were really pretty and tasted great. Maybe that will keep me going until supper.  Naw I will want to eat again in a few hours.

Everyone have a blessed day!

Are you still involved with the rural blog you were talking about? That is neat to find a daughter in law through a blog.

I order Melaleuca also. I started awhile back and stopped for awhile just because I was letting myself spend too much on things I really don't need. However, I LOVE their cleaning products. They are so good and so safe. I don't worry about letting the kids use them at all. For instance today I was cleaning the shower and using the Tub N Tile, well I splashed some of it and it went right into my eye. Now, I won't lie, it stung for just a minute but that was it. I wasn't worried like I would have been with harsh chemical cleaners. They also last awhile because of them being concentrated and you mix up a bottle when you need it. Their dish washing soap is great and we LOVE their toothpaste. It helps with my sensitive teeth even though it doesn't say for sensitive teeth. Um, let me think what else I just really like............their body soaps, lotions and shampoo. I haven't found any of it that I didn't really like.

Oh, we also have a shock collar for our dogs. Dh got it when he was training them for hunting but it works great for barking too!
Blessings,
Rashel

It was Raising Kids In A Rural Area on iVillage. They changed up their format a few years ago and we all left. I still chat with some of the ladies on IM. I have no clue if they have a new bunch there or not.

My DIL's mom and I chatted a couple of years on IM then got to where we had kids going well tell him/her this or that so we made them get their own. They chatted 3 or 4 years before they met. The rest was history.

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
