Posted in The Barn

I took my camera to the barn this morning.  I didn't get all the "right" pictures.  I did get a few of my babies.  Someone ask me what I do with all my milk.  Right now I don't have near enough milk.  I am getting about 3 gallons a day.  Babies are taking that much.  I have enough friends that want raw milk to use probably 5 gallons a week or more on top of what we use here.  I could also feed my babies more.

Here is a couple of pictures of my bottle babies.

Just so you don't think I manage to feed all these on three gallons of milk a day here is my nurse nanny herd

Now isn't that a wonderful looking bunch of goats?  NOT!  All but 1 are goats that lost their kids in my son's pen and had nice udders.  I had my other son help me catch them and I am using them.   A couple I MAY keep, most will be gone when I don't need them.  My son bought me one.  Well he bought a group of goats and discovered he had a fresh La Macha in the bunch.  She is the black and white goat with the orange string.  She probably won't stick around either.  She is harder to deal with than some of the "pasture" goats.   Most of them I don't hobble any more. I have to hobble her EVERYTIME.

I put heads in stanchions and the kids then drop babies beside each goat.  After we run out of goat milk we do the bucket, which I forgot to get a picture of.  While that is going on I mulit task and milk.

Now for your laugh of the day.   This is where my peafowl have decided to roost.   I am not thrilled!

Yes, this is our NEW RV!

I am so enjoying your pictures. Now what do you do with all of the goats? Are they for milk, as well?

These are the cast offs from my son's pen. Either mama died, didn't love them, didn't have enough milk or who knows what. They aren't all goats either if you really go to looking there are several lambs.

These will be sold when they are big enough. Most will go for slaughter, a few for breeding. The kids will get a share of the money, depending on how much time and work they put into raising them.

We "might" keep one or two of the biggest pets IF they are girls.

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
