• Sunday, October 28, 2007 - Tired, no make that TIRED!

For some reason I am beat tonight.  It is 8 pm, kids are finishing up dishes.  I did manage to pull a great supper out of my hat.  OK not my hat but the oven and crock pot!   I am happy about the good supper because,  right now my time is limited morning and night so I am trying to look for ways to use other times to cook. I had left over beans and rice from lunch that crock potted to warm slow.  I also made shake and bake chicken.  Since the chicken cooks slow I prayed I would get chores done before I heard the smoke alarm.  I have played with making my own shake and bake until I have a mix I like.  No MSG in it!

I have to get back in the habit of getting supper started/finished before 5, even if we aren't eating until 7. Those two hours are gone for me until spring. Same with getting a dish for Church on Sunday. My early morning cooking is now filled with bottle babies, and playing midwife to goats. Anyone have any crock pot ideas to share?

Chores went well tonight except for my milk cows not sharing milk well.  Not sure what is up with Daisy, (jersey)  she had almost zero milk.  Baby, (jersey x ) had a little bit more, but she wants to dry up and really needs too.  I ended up having to pull out my reserve milk and warm it.  I hate cutting it so close.  My kids did show me where the powered lamb milk was that I had last spring.  I thought I had some, but couldn't find it.  I will mix 1/2 and 1/2 cow and power from here on out.  I need to get some probiotics to go in it.  When I have to use power it seems to help.  I will also start putting vinegar in their water every day.

I guess hitting the floor running at 5:30 is why I am tired.  I am praying it is that and not my chronic fatigue raising it's ugly head.  I will try and slow down this week, (HA!) and maybe get it back under control.

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
