• Friday, October 26, 2007 - What a LONG day!

Is it bedtime yet?   My day went down hill from this morning.  Produce co-op was great!   We will be eating high in the neighborhood for a week are so.  Kids are excited that we got pomegranates.  They ARE good!

I came home to find one dead nanny.  Why?  Who knows!   She looks like she just fell over dead.  One nanny that had two babies and wasn't interested in cleaning them.  One baby from this morning that seems no one loved.   That was my 2 pm check.

Fast fwd until tonight.   The goat that didn't love hers sorta loved them, but looks to have no milk.  Two more babies on the ground, but mama has a big side that I may have to milk.  I couldn't catch her without a fight and I didn't want to stress her, so that waits for another day.   The baby from this morning still wasn't being loved and acted week so to the house he came.  I took colostrum out for the two that mama sorta loved and the two that only have one side to nurse.  It's 7:30 and I am waiting on DH to come home.  Did I mention he picked up a baby goat from my son off the 18 wheeler.

Good news is that the baby we brought in this morning was in fine form tonight and is at the barn.   DS

and I are going to try some different extra feed on these goats to see if they will do better.  He just bought them last week so they haven't had any TLC.  They look like great goats, big heavy boar crosses but something isn't right.  Such is the gambles of the livestock industry.

DH just came in.  MN met him at the truck to get the latest baby.   She is so much like I was at that age.  Oh wait!  I still get excited over each and every baby.  I love birth!  It is the most exciting beautiful thing on earth!   Off to feed the new baby!

About Me

Just want to share the joys and tears of living in the country with others that understand them both. I am mom to 5 children. Two biological and three adopted. We are praying for one more adopted soon. We live 40 miles from town on 117 acres. My days are full of homeschooling children and dealing with livestock. Life is never dull or boring or "normal" what ever normal is. I ramble on here often, some times more than once a day as this is my main form of socialization with adults during the day. Hope to make some new friends here.
