Laundry Detergent
The recipe below is not mine, but is the same thing, same ingredients. I had to order the washing soda online but I have been told that some supermarkets carry it. It's not hard to do and it works great. You may want to add some scented oil to it if you like a scent, else it just smells like soap..which is not bad. I will still try to find my recipe....you can also do a search on the web and come up with many variations to this. If you try it let me know what you think.

Washing soda
I have ordered the washing soda but have since found out that it is the same thing as soda ash that you can buy in 50# bags at pool supply stores. (Such as Modern pool and spa)
God Bless,
Trixi:)
laundry detergent
thanks for the directions; I want to get away from detergents that are harmful.
God's blessings on you, yours and the work of your hands.
Powdered Laundry Detergent version
Just thought I would share with you a powdered version of laundry detergent.
Powdered Laundry Soap
- 1 box of borax (brand is Mule Team and is sold at Walmart, etc.)
- 1 box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda (I have found this at Kroger's and Ingles)
- 1 bar of soap, grated (you can use Dial, Ivory, Fels Naptha, or Zote - I use Zote as it's the least expensive - look for at places like Save-A-Lot and Hispanic Grocery stores (as this is a true laundry bar soap)
Combine all ingredients and store in a container.
To use:
2 tbsp per load of laundry (no that's not a typo)
If the laundry is really dirty, I will add 1/4 cup of baking soda to the wash. (no that's not a typo).
It will clean your clothes and will not leave a soap residue.
