This is my homesteading show and tell for today. Show and Tell Friday is hosted by Mary at Raising 4 Godly Men. Hop on over there if you'd enjoy more entries of other folks' show and tells.
This is the YWAM Cimarron root cellar. I love it! It has been here for over 20 years, and stores so much food for the base. Much of it we can during the summer and fall. It also stores our veggies for the garden, our eggs, lots of bottled drinks from the food bank, and occasionally even hangs our big game until we butcher it.
Over the door is this nest. I love it. I didn't see it while it had occupants, but to me it just adds life to this wonderful old place.
There are actually two doors. This helps to control the temperature.
Next is the right side of the cellar on the inside. At times this can be nearly full of potatoes, onions, cauliflower or other fresh veggies. Right now it has some heads of cauliflower, a few potatoes and some cabbages.
On the opposite side we store the canned goods and drinks.
In the back we have two of these bins that store root veggies like carrots in sand.
I hope you enjoyed our little journey into our root cellar. If you have blogged about a root cellar, leave me a link. I'd love to go visit it!
hey there ! I remember this place !!! [0= I was amazed back in Oct. and I am still amazed ! I will show ours when we put the food into ours. [0= Thanks for sharing my SSiC. (((hugs)))
That is most impressive. When we bought our place in the Okanogan, it had a root cellar, too. But it was a nasty thing, and we ended up filling it up with all the GARBAGE we found around the place. My DH plans to make a root cellar when we move over permanently.
Can't wait!
That is amazing!!! I love it. Did you build this yourself, or was this there when you moved here?
More impressive than the root cellar, is all the canned things you have in it!

This would be a dream of mine. I'm going to have my husband take a good look at this. How blessed you are to have something like this for storage! (And safe from the bears, too?)
