More BEES and misc news from the homestead.

We got our final colonies of bees for the spring yesterday. We are hoping to get a good batch of honey this year. There may be only some late summer honey since the hives are new...but we'll see.

We also got news that the loan is going through so we are not moving! Now we have to pray that we have enough for the down payment and that THAT hasn't changed.
On a VERY sad note - My daughter's beloved Maine Coon cat (Bear) got outside when the wind blew the door open. He had only been out for minutes. Our Black Lab thought he was something new to chase....so he gave chase down a steep bank and Bear must have broken his neck or had a heart attack (he weighed 14lbs) on the way down because he was instantly dead within seconds of us being right behind the dog. The dog only smelled him - no marks, no blood, just a pile of lovely fluffy fat cat....oh we bawled and wailed and attempted CPR for about an hour.
Bear had been a 'family member' for 5 years, loved classical music (really, he would run to a room when it played and purr!), head-butt you to pet him, was scared of ceiling fans and was a total security blanket when my daughter needed a good cry or to de-stress. This is a hard pet to lose and our house's dynamics have changed over the last week....
...
He is and will be greatly missed.
