Need Prayers for a friend.

Posted on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 12:10

Hey eveyone...I need some prayers for a friend of mine that goes to our church.  She is 28 weeks and just found out that her son has a diaphragmatic hernia.  Basically his stomach has moved up to where his lungs should be and his lungs haven't developed.  Her doc has said that he has a very low survival chance and if he does, he will have lifelong lung issues.  Please pray for peace and healing as they are going through a very difficult time.

Things to do

Posted on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 10:10

Here is my list for the day....I doubt I will get much done but at least I am going to try.

  • Utility Room
  • Laundry
  • Kitchen
  • Fridge --this one I am passing on to Ron
  • Living room
  • Clean off the tops of all flat surfaces
  • Linen closet/hallway
  • Bathrooms
  • Master bedroom

I'm sure I could add a whole bunch more stuff but this will at least get me started.  Plus I have to keep Sarah and JuLee occupied in the mean time.

We came home yesterday...

Posted on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:16

We were able to come home yesterday.  Today was pretty uneventful and for the most part Sarah and I just slept.  She did start to run a bit of a fever tonight but was able to bring it down with some pain meds.  Other than that she is doing well.  Her rash is still spreading but hasn't reached her incision yet which is what we are trying to avoid.  Tomorrow I have to start in on this house that was destroyed while I was gone....thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes.  The LORD is so awesome and has blessed this family was more than we deserve.

Sarah Update....

Posted on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 03:32

Well the chest tube is staying in another day. Also she has developed Impetigo on her face and neck so thay want to get that under control so it doesn't spread to her chest. For now we are looking at maybe coming home on Monday or Tuesday. The way it looks now she will be coming home on a total of 7 meds (6 of them are new ones.) Other than that we are hanging in there.

Update on Sarah...

Posted on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 08:30

Lots of progress made today.  We got rid of a chest tube, her arterial line and she is back off her oxygen.  We went for a walk today, played a board game and spent lots of time sitting up.  I even got her to eat half a banana....pain meds are back to prn and the blood pressure is doing great.

Sarah's surgery update

Posted on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:18

Sarah surgery went well.  They took her back around 7:30 and she arrived in the ICU around 5:20....they tried to repair the tricuspid valve but then did another ECHO and was not happy with the results so they decided to go with the original plan and go ahead with the replacement.  She is breathing on her own with no help from oxygen and will be transferred out of the ICU to the Cardiac Stepdown unit as soon as a bed becomes available.  She is doing well with pain too only needing 1.5 doses of Morphine last night.  Today they switched her to Tylenol 3 and is doing fine.  I may have to switch my blog around because now she also has a Porcine (pig) valve.  Pretty soon she is going to have a barnyard going in her heart....LOL.....thanks for all the prayers.

They just took Sarah back to surgery.  She is scheduled in the O.R. for 9.5 hours so it is going to be a long day.  My chrch's youth minister is here so I am very thankful for that.  I will update everyone this evening.  Please say a prayer.

God said No.

Posted on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 09:46

A friend I met last week at camp sent this to me and I thought it really hit home so I thought I'd share it.

I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.

It is not for me to take away,
But for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.

God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
It isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.

God said, No.
I give you blessings;
Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from
Worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own,
But I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things
That I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life,
So that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh,
Finally you have the idea..

THIS DAY IS YOURS
DON'T THROW IT AWAY

Sarah will be going in for her surgery on July 7th.  We are leaving for Indy on Sunday and I just ask that you remember to say a prayer for her.

Things are getting busy...

Posted on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 10:18

This is the last non-busy week for us. Here's our plans.

  • June 14-19--camp with Katie and Bethany
  • June 20--Fort Wayne Zoo with church
  • June 21-26--camp with Sarah
  • home for 8 days
  • July 5th--head to Indy for Sarah's surgery
  • July 7th--Sarah's Open-Heart Surgery

After her surgery the rest of the summer is pretty much shot so we will just stay home so she can recover.  I will try and update when I can.

Sarah's surgery is on July 7th

Posted on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 04:08

Sorry once again for the lack of updating but wanted to let everyone know Sarah's surgery will be on July 7th and just asking for prayers.  This is her 3rd open-heart surgery and will probably be her most extensive so please send up a prayer for her.

I will be creating a CaringBridge site for her updates and will post then once it is up and running.

Ethan and Sarah..also some bad surgery news...

Posted on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 03:47

Here is a new pic of Ethan and Sarah.

We also got some bad news about Sarah's surgery this summer...

tThings are a lot worse than we knew....Sarah will be going in for a double valve replacement sometime in July or August and they are going to reduce the size of her left ventricle... the worse news is that we are no longer looking at 1 more surgery after this one...we are looking at a lifetime of valve replacements about every 5-10 years.....

Our Family

cowql1a
We are a family of five. My husband has MS and Mueiner's. My oldest daughter is blessed with Asperger's Syndrome which is a high functioning form of Autism and my baby was born with multiple heart problems (2 open heart surgeries, at least 2 to go) and dyslexia. Our 4th child was born in January although she was not due until April. Although we have many medical problems, we love life and wouldn't change a thing. The LORD has blessed us in many ways.
