JuLee's 4 month check-up

Posted on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:05

was AWESOME......she is 7 lbs. 13 ozs.  She has gained exactly 6 pounds.  The doctor said we no longer have to fortify her breastmilk so now she is on straight breastlmilk and is occasionaly breastfed the "old fashioned" way.  Doc also said to give her the last feeding at 10-11 p.m. and let her sleep as long as she wants, she is allowed to go to just demand feedings now.  He does want me to put JuLee in her own room because she tends to grunt and groan a lot at night and he thinks it will help Dad and I sleep but I told him that was out of the question.  Another thing was to get rid of the binky......nope, not going to do that either.....

We have to schedule a sleep study for her to see if she is ready to come off the apnea monitor and she also had to have some x-rays of her head because she has a ridge int he middle of her skull.  The x-rays came back fine, he said it was just because she spent so much time on the sides of her head when she was born and eventually her hair would cover it up.

Update on everyone and everything......

Posted on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 09:08

We finished our school year at the end of March and are now starting a new year.  Our first day of the new school year will be May 12.  We switched over to Christian Light this year for everything so it will be much easier to keep all that straight.

The girls are all doing wonderfully.  They are loving JuLee more than I ever imagined.  JuLee is weighing in at 7 pounds 8 oz and is due to go in next Friday for her 4 month check-up.  She is smiling at us once in a while and sleeping well although she is as close to a colicky baby as we have ever had.  She usually starts fussing/crying around 5-6 in the evening and goes till about 9:00.

I am taking a Yoga class with my youngest 2 nights a week and also taking a Water Aerobics class 2 times weekly.  I think that is about it.....

JuLee is Due Today

Posted on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 09:20

JuLee is offically due today.....it is also the day we start calculating her adjusted age.  That is when they take the difference between when she was actually born (Jan 17) and today.  So every time they try to figure out where she is developmentally and physically they will subtract 12 weeks from her actual age.  Happy Adjusted Birth Day JuLee......

I forgot how tiring a newborn can be......

Posted on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 05:13

Oh my goodness, this child is wearing me out.....she is really enjoying being able to be fed whenever she wants and not just when the docs say she can be.  At the hospital she was on a 3 hour schedule and here at home she eats about every 2-3 so it really isn't tht bad, but at night it is a little tiring....as soon as I get her fed and put back down, I have about 1 1/2 hours to sleep and she starts right up again......honestly though, I love it.  I am so glad that she is home and doing so well.  She love for daddy to hold her and the girls all fight over who get to hold her next.  We are still trying to get some kind of routine going so hopefully that will fall into place soon.  Her apnea/brady monitor has gone off a few times and that is a little scary but at least I was able to get used to it in the hospital and know what to do.  Also, she is a very vocal baby so she makes a lot of little noises which is really cute (but again in the middle of the night, it is a little tiring).

Praise GOD for the miracles in life.

JuLee is coming HOME!!!!

Posted on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 08:26

Wednesday is the big day providing she keeps eating like a major PIGGY.  Her minimum intake is 37 ml's and she is taking about 50 every time.....they did try and switch her milk fortifier to a different brand that is cheaper so it wouldn't be so expensive for me when she comes home but she would have no part of it.....so we switched her back and she is back off and running.  Her feeding tube came out on Saturday night.  They were going to take it out at 3:00 am but again JuLee had other plans and decided to take it out herself at 1:00.  SHe now weighs 4 lbs. 1.3 ozs and is 16 and 3/4 in long.  She has to have a sleep study done tonight, they will read it tomorrow and then I have to room in for 1 night (Tuesday night) to make sure I know how to use the Apnea monitor and then she will be coming home on Wednesday......now that it is actually here and getting close I am getting so nervous.

Update on Jules

Posted on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 08:38

JuLee is doing very well.....she is having a tough time trying to figure out the whole bottle thing...she will do really well for a few days then struggle for a few.  Right now the only thing stopping us from taking her home is the feeding so as soon as we get thant figured out she will be home.  I don't think it will be by our Easter deadline but that is okay because she is doing good and that is all that matters.  Her weight is up to 3 lbs 15 ozs.  I have some new pictures to post but will have to do that another day...I spent the night with her again last night and only got about 3 hours sleep....I'm too tired to fight with Photobucket right now.

Update on JuLee

Posted on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 12:12

JuLee is doing so well even the nurses and doc's are even surprised....She is taking 1 ounce of breastmilk now every three hours but the biggest difference is now she gets a bottle every other feeding.  This week we are going to get her from her isolette into a regular crib and then next week we are going to work on getting her up to full feedings by bottle.  Our goal is to have her home the week before Easter.  Our church surprised us and is planning a baby shower for JuLee on May 4th.  We are going to have a potluck then presents and cake and ice cream so that was a wonderful surprise.  JuLee weighs 3 lbs. and 5 oz.  She was up to 3.6 but she had a poop that weighed 2 oz so she lost that and was able to gain back 1 oz.

JuLee should be home by end of March

Posted on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 09:27

I talked to the doc today and her said it was a very good chance that JuLee would be home before the end of March.  She took both her bottles today and finished them both off so that is super good.  They also upped her milk to 28 ml's every three hours.  2 more ml's and she will be getting 1 ounce every three hours.  Her weight is now 3 lbs. 6 oz.....she gain a whole 4 ounces since yesterday.....(I think part of it is that she needs to poop).

JuLee had her first bottle and bath....

Posted on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 10:43

The doc said JuLee could start having 2 bottles each day if she is alert and wanting to suck.  The first time she took 11 of 26 ml's and that was at 6:00p.m. Saturday....at 9:00 p.m. she had her first bath and loved it and then at midnight we gave her the second bottle and she only got 3 of the 26 ml's but I think she was just too tired.  Today they took her off the nasal cannula and she had her two bottles today too....oh and her weight is up to 2 lbs, 14 oz.  She had gained 1 lb 1 oz from birth.  She has had a big weekend but very successful one.

Our Family

cowql1a
We are a family of five. My husband has MS and Mueiner's. My oldest daughter is blessed with Asperger's Syndrome which is a high functioning form of Autism and my baby was born with multiple heart problems (2 open heart surgeries, at least 2 to go) and dyslexia. Our 4th child is due in April. Although we have many medical problems, we love life and wouldn't change a thing. The LORD has blessed us in many ways.
