At Home in Georgia

A Nice Day...

I forget that my posts end up on the "Past 100 Blog Entries" page... I just wanted to clarify that I took my pictures off the blog at the request of my husband while he researches security issues.  He's a teacher and is VERY well aware of My Space issues, etc., and not as knowledgeable about blogging.  He's not paranoid or anything, just wanting to make sure that posting pictures of OUR kids is appropriate for OUR family.  So I pulled them for now and am awaiting his decision about this.  I know I've just recently linked a lot of friends to this site to see pictures of what I've sewed lately, etc. and didn't just want to leave everyone wondering where they went!

Anyway... we had a nice day today.  School went well.  Emma is starting more independent work, so I have a few moments to work with Cassandra on actual schoolwork in the morning, making the day run much more efficiently.  Prior to this, Emma has needed direct one-on-one for all of her work from beginnning to end, and Cassandra just plods along with her independent stuff without a change of scenery until I finish with Emma.  Now, we can break for reading time, or a test, or I can work with Cassandra while Emma does some of her own work.  This is very freeing for me!  It makes Garrett's morning much nicer too, because I can take more breaks to give him some attention while he plays nearby.

I did some more sewing.  I made Cassandra a flannel nightgown and Emma a robe that I'd started probably a year ago.  Today, I made some matching flannel bloomers to go under the nightgown for warmth when she needs it.  It all turned out really cute.  I'm working on a shawl, too, for an order.  I do that when we listen to tapes, my DH reads to me, or when we're watching something only half interesting on TV.

But most fun of all, is that Cassandra is learning to sew.  She's making skirts for her doll, Cassie.  I posted a picture of Cassie in the first skirt Cassandra made for her.  Now she's working on a fuller one.  I can't believe MY child is old enough to learn to sew!

Tonight the girls had AWANA.  They were so excited because they earned another patch and Cassandra got to go to the store and spend her AWANA bucks.  Garrett enjoyed being home with Daddy and "fighting him up" as he calls rough-housing.

Anyway, I had to update, since my last post was a tired out, discouraged post!  Ah, the ups and downs of motherhood!
