A Brief Break

My husband and I are leaving for a week to relax and get reacquainted with each other. We will be boarding the dogs and spending some time together, just the two of us, without the distractions that come from trying to live in, tear down, and rebuild a one hundred year old house. Although I am greatly looking forward to this, it seems like such an awful time to leave the garden (and fears about whether our watering system will work for someone who does not know all of its quirks will probably haunt me throughout the week). And a week without the dogs? Well, it's like sending your children off to camp.

We are going out to Lancaster, really not so far. And the first question everyone asks is who are we going to visit? Well, we are going to be severely limiting our visiting potential in favor of spending some quality time together. I am hoping for one special visit, if we can fit it, but not really planning for any. I just want to visit with my husband, if you can call it that, and take walks, and squint my eyes hard and try to remember what Lancaster looked like when was a little girl. (Before the endless shopping centers and outlets and housing developments and other "improvements.")

So today, I canned everything in sight, emptied the fridge, and am still trying to finish laundry before I pack. I'll miss you all, but this is a much needed break. See you when we return!

I hope you had a lovely time. I must be a special place to visit.

I hope you have time to take part when you are ready in a meme I have nominated you for. It would be fun to read I'm sure.
