Each Little Thought
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7a
What were you thinking about just before you began reading this? What have you been thinking about the past few days? What do you think about most of the time?
What you are is a product of what you’ve been thinking about. Take some time today to watch your thought life. Do you meditate upon the law of the Lord day and night? Do you think about the things mentioned in Philippians 4:8? Is God serious when the Bible tells us what we are supposed to fill our minds with? Did you ever know God to not mean what He says? God says we must think about these things if we want to be fruitful.
A little thought does not seem so bad. But each little thought is another brick in the wall of the stronghold we are building in our minds for either God or Satan. The stronghold of God is a mighty fortress of protection against the storms of life. But Satan’s strongholds lock us in a dungeon of guilt, shame, and misery. He will take us captive whenever he wants to. When he says “hate” we will hate. When he says “overeat” we will overeat. When he says “complain” we will complain. When he says “fear man” we will fear man. In what ways does Satan have you chained?
To repent means to change our thinking. Today, pay close attention to what you think about. Ask yourself, “What kind of person thinks thoughts like that?” With God’s help, pull down those Satanic strongholds in your mind, and build strongholds for God. Perhaps it will take several days or months until you’re done. But do not give up. The strongholds that took many years or generations to erect may take time to pull down. He that perseveres and patiently brings forth fruit unto perfection will be blessed
by God and saved eternally.

• 2008-Jul-20 - A new Grandchild
Posted By m j
Michelle came over this morning to talk to dad and I. She told us that she is 3 weeks pregnant. We are not shocked, but then again we are. Michelle has been dating Gill for 4 and 1/2 weeks now. They live with his parents. Michelle told us that she and Gill will get married soon, but her divorce needs to be done 1st. She also told us she is going to keep looking for a job and try to go to school too. We will see. Michelle has not worked a day since she has moved back down here months ago. Everyone has been supporting her and the babies. We will love and welcome any grandchild, we just wish she was on her feet taking care of the babies she has now before adding more. Michelle's sisters are upset and disappointed in her because they have raised Jeffie and Maddie as much as Michelle has. We need to keep this in prayer and Gods hands where they belong.

• Sunday, July 20, 2008 - Moving On...
Well, I finally did it. I made up my mind where I'm going to blog. Really.
From now on, if you're looking for me, I'll be over at Life Gets Messy.
It's where all my blogging dreams will come true.... (sigh...............)
Oh. I'm back to reality now. That's where I'll be blogging on vacation instead of here. Hope to still see you around. I'll still have my blog here as an "archive" kinda thing, at least for a while, but if you want more crazy rooster stories, that's where they'll be.
Peace~

• Saturday, July 19, 2008 - If it wasn't for me...
Blessings!
Do you ever find yourself saying, "If it wasn't for me________would never get done!" (fill in the blank)? Be honest now:P I don't do it as often as I once used to but I did find myself doing just that the last week:P
It was a couple of days of things just being so busy and sometimes feeling like we were taking two steps forward and one step back:P It began with, "What would you all do if I wasn't here to sweep up your mess on the mudroom floor?" It progressed with things like, "How would you folks survive if I wasn't here to close the cupboard doors?" "What will you do when I'm not here anymore to, pick up the dirty towels off the bathroom floor...rinse the dishes before stacking them, clean out the muddy drop in the bathroom sink, replace the soap in the dish etc!?!" Then the last one that got me thinking harder than anything was..."Am I the only one who knows how to replace the toilet paper and actually put it ON the dispenser?":P
All this to say, I had become a class one nag and self oppointed doitall:P I got to thinking about how much God has done for me because I didn't do it first or do it for myself and blah blah blah. Hearing yourself yet?:P
I wondered how many times God has said to me "Am I the only one that sees you dragging your feet, not praying enough, worrying too much etc?" What would you do if I wasn't here to help you through your trials, pick you up when you are down, hold you when you are shattered etc etc etc?"
My answer? I would be lost. Completely and utterly lost. I would be desparate, desolate, alone and forgotten. How much He does for me and how often I take it for granted.
What would my family do? Perhaps they would be lost, desparate, desolate, alone and forgotten. All or some of each? Who knows. I know one thing for sure. They wouldn't feel my love or know my guidance. Teaching them as I go along, helping them to become not so much independant but reliant on God's provision. They've been given the gift of someone who loves them enough to do these things (even if it comes with a complaint now and then) for and with them.
I will never be complaint free but I do try to let them know that there are lots of things that I couldn't do without THEM either:) My sweet husband and children will often turn my frown upside down by turning my words around. They will jump on it and say "What would we do if you weren't here to________" or they will do something with a lot of fanfare to make sure I know they are doing it and, with a mischevious little grin, say "What would you do if______":P
I love my family and I know they love me. Better yet GOD loves my family and I know He loves me!
So...if it wasn't for you....?
Have a very blessed night!
God be with thee!

• Saturday, July 19, 2008 - July 19th~ When did that happen?
Posted By Chimicole
Haven't been here in awhile, I've discovered. After Dad passed away and dh was laid off, I guess I've been really busy with work and such to have much time for anything else.
We've been slowly putting up things from the garden and farmers markets in the area. We're going to work on sauerkraut tomorrow. We found a stone crock today at a flea market for only $28 dollars! YEA! We had my Mom's, but it was broken and not repairable.
Anyhoo~ speaking of gardens... look at these tomato plants that have went wild!

That's only 4 plants.... they are covered with tomatoes and we have a few more plants in the garden area! (I turned all my flower beds into "food" areas this year.) There's mustard greens under there as well as a cucumber plant (dogs trompled the other 3 before we managed to get the "stakes" in place) and some radishes....

Here's my big ol 178 pound Great Dane next to the plants.
I also tried my hand at making the top for our patio swing. It turned out ok, I think. But I won't bore anyone with a picture of that one! LOL!
We have the pool up and ready for kiddos to jump in and have fun, and frankly, the water is just a bit chilly for me, so I do "house" things. Things I would rather do anyway at this point in my life!
We're heading out in a couple of weeks to Colorado to be there while our grand daughter is born, and help our dd out a bit. Can't wait to see her, but frankly, I'm dreading that drive already! LOL!
Well.... enough rambling... soy milk is about finished and dh is already in bed, so I'd better get myself in gear, as they say...

• Saturday, July 19, 2008 - You should see the hole in our yard!
Posted By mountainmama
I have a huge hole in my back yard, the high side equaling around 24 ft tall. You might ask why we have such a hole in our yard. Well, we are building a root cellar.
I have wanted one for some time now, because we don't have a basement, and I would like a place to store certain items. I would like to store our canned goods there as well as our buckets of foods we buy in bulk. Of course it's also a great place to store root crops and ferment pickles and cabbage.
If you have one and could leave a comment on your success with your cellar I would greatly appreciate it.
My husband will start laying the footers as soon as the ground dries some. We already have some of the block and we hope to pick up the rest soon.
Happy Homesteading everyone!

• Saturday, July 19, 2008 - Free Photo Book Offer - WOO HOO!
I don't know if you've seen the promotions from a company called Artscow.com or not, but I've been enjoying their deals! I got my first photo book today in the mail and it is GREAT!! I am so pleased with how it turned out.
You can design your own pages (if you're a digiscrapper) or use their templates (what I did). It's a 30 page, 8x8 photo book for $11.99 with free shipping. I have several coupon codes that I can give out and if you redeem it for the discounted price and free shipping, I get an additional credit for another photo book. Great deal, huh?
I know you're wondering about the quality...SOOO I took pictures! I'm not going to crop these or anything so you can get the best idea.
Isn't that neat?!?! The templates are really easy to use once you figure them out. You choose your background on the pages, then just click and drag your layouts and then drop the pictures (from ones you've uploaded) into where you want them.
I'm so excited. I can't wait to order my next one!
If you are interested in using a code to get the discount and free shipping, you can leave me a comment or email me and I'll zap a coupon code right to you!!! Thanks for looking!! |

• Saturday, July 19, 2008 - Wow! Summer is crazy!
Wow. I can't believe it's the middle of July already. Where is it going?!? I still have to finalize my curriculum lists for next year and get things ordered. It's going to be time to start soon. I need to get on the ball.
I thought I'd take a little bit of time and give quick updates on us.
Christopher has been experiencing some growing pains. He wants to be grown up so badly, but refuses to accept with growing up comes more responsibility. We're working on him, but he's a tough nut to crack. He's started sharing in our Bible reading time at night and seems very proud of himself that he's doing so well. I'm expecting LOTS of progress with him this year.
Erin is so ready for school to start she can taste it. She's reading pretty much on her own now...which should make things go a lot smoother next year. As great as she's doing, she still lacks confidence in her own abilities though. We've been working on a few things that are just for her to help with that and so far so good.
Sean. Wow. Is this the boy we had to do speech therapy with?? Sometimes he's still a little hard to understand, but he doesn't stop talking these days! It's so nice to see him finally growing into his own skin.
Kelsie is 8 months old already!!! When did that happen!!?? (Yeah, 3 days ago! LOL) She's crawling all over the place now and started pulling up and cruising around on her own a lot too. Looks like she's going to follow in the trend of an early walker. She finally got her first tooth last weekend too!! After several cranky nights she seems to have settled in and is relaxing now. It hasn't effected her nursing or eating any yet either...which I say is AWESOME!
Daddy is working like a crazy man. Between work and work at the church and keeping up with the yard work and things that need attention on the house (summer jobs), he barely sits still. Mom, you'll be happy to know I finally cut his hair. So at least he's not so shaggy and that should help him stay cooler when he's out in the heat.
I'm doing well. Still working on getting things more organized and decluttered around here...including me. I've lost 68 lbs since Kelsie was born and REALLY can't wait to loose more. It's hard work, but I'm okay with that...for now.
I've taken a ton of pictures the last few weeks, but haven't been online much to post. We had our niece and nephew here for three days last week and that totally threw my schedule out of whack. I'm trying to get laundry and all those fun things caught back up now and then I'll post some pictures.
So, that's us in a nutshell.

July 19
Worries or Peace?
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
Where will the money come from for the next payment? How can I get this business paid off more quickly? Where will our next meal come from? Where will we get the money for the shoes we need so badly? How can I make more money so I can buy the truck I want so badly? Where can I invest my money to make sure it increases? What can I do with all my riches, so I can keep them? After all, a fire could burn up all our things, or someone could steal them, or . . . The list could go on.
Being overly concerned about any of these things should tell us we are not trusting God as we ought. God does not have our total devotion, which He deserves.
If God has our total devotion, material things will not matter so much. We can be poor and still serve God with a whole heart. If the Lord has blessed us with riches, we can use them to bring honor and glory to God by sharing with the needy instead of hoarding it to ourselves.
The key is found in verse 33 of our reading. “But rather seek ye first the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” If we put God first in everything, He will supply all our needs.

• 2008-Jul-18 - This up coming week & windows
Posted By m j
This up coming week I am going to try to get 3 rooms all cleaned out. I need to go through every thing and find a new home for the items we do not use any more. I am going to start in the kitchen and then move to the family room and the girls bathroom last. I also want to go through the garage and start un-packing some of the boxes. Most of the item will be going to a new home. I have sooo many boxes of homeschooling books and item that I did not use or will not use again, I will be selling them on ebay. I am giving my self a month to empty out our small rented storage unit and keep what is needed and find a new home for the rest. On the farm/ranch we have a huge storage unit that we keep our tack and supplies in. I have filled it up half way with item we no longer use or need, they will be sold at a huge yard sell once I have it filled with sale items. I will let you all know when I will list all the home school books and stuff on ebay.
We ordered new windows for the house! We are soo excited!!! We have been wanting to get them for years but always did some other project instead. But this year we did it. They will be here in 3-4 weeks. The house will be sooo much cooler and then the air will not be on 24 hours a day. I will take pictures after they are in.
Today was the last day of vbs. I had so much fun teaching this week. We had sooo many kids give their hearts to the Lord, it was amazing. I can't wait until Christmas vbs!
God Bless, mj |
