Does anyone else here do a Winter Bird Count?  I am doing one this weekend and have already recorded several species.  Nothing out of the ordinary, but it's still fun .  I was hoping to see the Short-Eared Owl this weekend so I could record it, but instead I discovered a Barred Owl in our backyard!  That was a treat.  He stayed for a good half-hour.  It's been so neat to see these birds around here this winter.  The Barred Owl is very pretty.  It's snowing pretty hard now so the bird activity has quieted down.  I expect tomorrow they will be out in force at the feeders!
