Today is a beautiful day, and I mean so much more than the clear blue sky and birds and flowers and other aspects of Creation that I see out my windows. Today is beautiful in my heart. My oldest son came home from camp yesterday - his first such adventure (he's 10). He is a changed young man. He has grown up in a Christian home but as sometimes happens, you need to see it really lived out elsewhere before it "sinks in." That seems to have happened and I am praising God with all my being today! He has spent the last two weeks in the company of other Christian young men (the camp is ages 8 - 15, boys only) and he LOVED it. He loved his cabin counselor, the other counselors, the camp leaders, and the other kids of all ages. He will be home schooling this year and is excited that he'll be going to Community Bible Study with me every week! He wants to keep in touch with the friends he made at camp, as well as his counselor, and cannot wait for next year to go again.
My prayer is that the Lord will keep this fire burning in his young heart. It's easy to come home on a "high" from the experience, but he's now back in the real world. The closing program at camp yesterday addressed just that issue, and these boys will have a lot of people praying for them!
My prayer is also that my husband and I will be faithful to do our part to nurture our son's spiritual life. It sounds so simple, like "Oh, yeah, we do that anyway" but we all know how life can take over. One of Satan's greatest tactics is to keep us too busy to pray or get in the Word. We need to be vigilant.
I pray a blessed Sunday to all!
