please, please drink your orange juice

Yesterday evening I had the sniffles and a manageable headache, and I think that was it as far as my relationship with the flu/cold is going to be this season. I simply don't have time for it. I've been suffering the worst exhaustion the past couple of days. I think my body wanted me to stop and deal with the germs in bed, but that just wasn't going to happen and this morning I feel better than I have in a while. Knock on wood. Hopefully Dom will be as fortunate. My defense against all things illness related is orange juice. I believe the immune-boosting powers of oj are recognized as common knowledge, but I mention it every chance I get this time of year to co-workers, friends, and customers because I don't want the people around me to be sick. This year the response to my unasked for advice has repeatedly been, "yeah, but it's so expensive." According to my calculations, missing a single day of work costs me nearly $50. Not being able to cook and requiring medicine adds to the cost, and meanwhile I'm miserable. What really ticks me off is when the response to my pointing this out is, "Well, unless I'm in the emergency room I go to work anyway." Well, great. I get to sit back and watch the cold cycle amongst my coworkers who can't be bothered to drink a single freaking glass of preventative orange juice a day and then want to play the martyr as they spread the plague.

I agree with you... although not with all of the entusiasm you have girl. I use to get that animated about things but somewhere along the line I lost it. I think I am going to go have a glass of orange juice and hopefully it will be preventitive AND energy producing. I sincerely hope that you feel even better soon.

About Me
Homesteading is more than a way of life, more than a state of mind. I am in my early twenties, newly married, childless, landless, and on the brink of moving to the city. Yet I garden, bake bread, and try to be the best wife I can while working full time. Little accomplishments, over time, will make my dream a reality.
