Business venture!

Ok, this will by NO MEANS make us rich, but it should be fun and might put a little extra money in our pockets!

The little town back home is goign to try to have a Farmer's Market. My sister just called and asked if I help her w/it! It will take some logistics, but it's only cheap booth rent and only 10 weeks. And MY out of pocket costs wont' be much at all! As long as ppl show up, I think this will work. I'm always giving produce away so this might be a good solution. Plus Mat will be in charge of radishes and peas (which might be hard to pull off cuz it doesn't start until June) and he can keep his profits. I'm going to make a few loaves of bread nad see if they sell the first couple of times......

Have had a little experience...tomatoes, squash, beans are big sellers. It's hard work!!!! Veggies have to be clean. Folks love homemade anything...jellies, jams, breads, cookies, etc. and they are willing to pay extra for the quality and freshness. Get there early. Have signs with prices or you'll repeat yourself 100 times. If you know you'll have a certain veggie starting to come in in 2 wks then make a sign that says that. They'll come back. You'll need bags and a scale if selling by weight.

I've always wanted to do this! We are going to plant a garden this year. We have a lot of clay so it will be here and there.

That sounds really fun!

I think that would be really cool! Go you! I am just mourning not having a garden this year... but seriously who am I kidding? I have a black thumb! I tried and since I have been married I have only once gotten anything to grow. I blame it on weather, time etc... but I am just bad at it. I shall stick to helping dad with his and eating out of his garden for now.
