A BIG change of plans for today!

I got up and worked out and we were on the road in time. But 20 min into the trip, my friend called saying that her gdd was sick and she couldn't meet me! She was VERY upset and I told her we'd just do it another day. My mom will be thrilled!LOL So I call my mom and tell her and she apparently did NOT understand. I get to the house and she orders me to take Joey to the bathroom. I told her he didnt' need to go and she said it would make things easier on her. At this point I didn't realize that she thought I wasn't coming so I took him to the bathroom. Then I hear her yelling at Mat in the van about his book. It's a library book and I gave him permission to take it knowing that I"d be along. I hate it when ppl get their authority undermined, but she was being pretty unreasonable so I butted in and told her that I told him he could bring it. She ripped my head off saying I DO NOT WANT TO BE RESPONSIBILE FOR THE BOOK. I was like MOM, I WILL BE! Did you NOT understand that I am coming along to the Museum w/you? Oh no, I didn't.............SHEESH! Let me preface this by saying she was upset that I wasn't there when I called her at 9:25 to tell her about the change of plans. I said, MOM IT WAS A LUNCH DATE! WHY ON EARTH WOULD I BE THERE AT 9??????? Too many strikes against me by that point!LOL And that's when I learned that we WOULD be going to teh Children's Museum. I dressed Joey like a ragamuffin cuz she told me they were going to do crafts! So Joey was in ripped up sweats that were too small!LOL

So I think dad will bail on the trip cuz he was why they weren't supposed to go to begin with. Nope, he wants to come. Fine. We all get in the van and head out (my 2yo nephew who's a bit rambunctios went also) and my dad was driving VERY slow for some reason. Mat was commenting on it and I told him he'd better stuff it. I mean the UPS guy making deliveries kept passing us!LOL At 10:30 dad wanted to stop and buy the kids lunch. HELLO YOU OLD PPL! It's a wee bit early for lunch for us! I did tell him he could stop, but that the kids would more than likely want to eat again. I meant a 2&3yo stomachs doesn't quite get the whole' we need to eat now to save money' thing. Finally we get to the museum and dad tries to negotiate more off for an SBC employee deal. He wasn't happy when they said they didn't have that agreement anymore!LOL So we wander around and lost my dad a few times and kept after my nephew and at 12:30 I told dad after the Magic School Bus exhibit (they made wind socks), we were eating. He asked where. I said down in the food court. He said let's wait until we leave. Ok, dad you can wait, but I'm taking my kids down for lunch. Joey was getting cranky and I knew it was food related. So we go eat and then decided to split up. I asked dad to take Mat up to the science center cuz Mat loves it and there is usually lots of hands on stuff and mom and I were going to take the boys to the toddler area. I guess dad didn't do it! I was sort of miffed! He even told my mom that he didn't like going there w/kids cuz he couldnt' see what he wanted to see! But the toddlers saw the Mr. Roger's space neighborhood thing and loved it and Mat had a nice time despite my dad.

I realize this paints my dad in a terrible light, but I was sort of surprized by his behavior w/Mat. That's not normal. Or I'd have made him go w/mom to the toddler area nd taken Mat up to the science center. But I thought I was doing THEM (well, ok, the ppl in the toddler section!LOL) a favor by splitting them up! They pick at each other and it drives me batty.

So my sister calls on my way home and says she got told to go home from work so we could've seen her after all (we live an hour away from my parents and sister). And then I get home and listen to the messages and MIL called and didn't leave much of a message, but did refer to me as 'sweetie'. That's some serious red flags being thrown............I've not talked to anyone or been out there in a while so I'm ASSUMING it's nothing I"ve done and that she thinks she has some horrible news to tell me. I tried calling her back and got no answer.

Upon getting home, I promptly cleaned out the frig and Mat nad I made a game plan to visit the library closest to karate to get books for the trip to IL this weekend. Supper is simple and I'm ready for BED!
