Today is under control.......

Thanks to both boys, I got copius amounts of work done today. Joey was up shortly after 6 and Mat shortly after 7. I had convinced myself to mop on Friday (I mop before I work out). I figured since I wanted to watch the CSI/Without A Trace thing, I'd be up late and tired tomorrow morning anyway so I might as well haul myself out of bed and pray that the sleep in tomorrow instead!LOL I swept and mopped (I mop myself into the basement) and realized I had some time to kill and purged this armoire down there. NASTY! I was sick to see that the mouse we had 2 years ago ate a hole in my nice flannel sheets for the guest bed! But that's all cleaned out and half the back end of hte truck is loaded for goodwill. Then I worked out and started laundry. It's about 1/2 done. I called my neighbor to check on her little one who had a tonsilectomy yesterday (he's doing fine) while I dusted and then I cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed. Both boys have school done (Yes, it's 10:30) and I worked on the bathroom in our bathroom. It's a huge whirlpool tub and we don't use it so I rarely clean it!LOL I need to finish dusting it next week. I also made a little dent in the kitchen table. You can see it anyway. And windexed some mirrors and stuff.

So all that's left is showering for me. I see me reading a book today since we're having leftovers for supper.

Hello!

If everyone gets up so early, what time do you all go to bed?

So exactly how many hours do your children do school?

What do they do the rest of their day?

God Bless,

Ma

~~ Trust me when I say I do not really enjoy getting up at 6! 7 is when I wake up and I get up about 7:50 in order to get ready to workout at 8. Joey gets put in bed at 8 and depending on how tired he is, how fast he goes to sleep. Mat goes to bed about 9:30-10.

How many hours a day do they do school? Joey's 5 so he has about 45 min of school. Lest you worry about that not being enuf, in the 1st month of school he did his entire year of math and LA. He did IN history in May and is now cranking out a 450 page 1st comprehensive workbook (from walmart or the likes). If Mat puts his nose to the grindstone, he is done in 2-2.5 hours.

AFA the rest of the day? They play mainly. We occasionally have 'work' to do, but they have lots of free time to do whatever.

Hello Again

03:42, 2007-Nov-8 .. Posted by Anonymous
This is my second year of homeschooling our girls 13 and 10. They start school around 9:00 and finish at 2:00. That is with a half hour of lunch. My daughters both went to public school. I would go up to the school and help and watched what they did all day. It was easy (after I got the guts) to decided to homeschool them. Believe me they "Are" getting much more done at home even during your sons 45 min. of schooling at age 5.

Both of my daughters can see they are learning "much" more at home:) It makes me sad when I think of all of the wasted years. I am so thankful for this time of "catch up".

I hope you didn't think I was criticizing I only wish I could get started early:)

Blessings to you and yours,

Ma

~~I didn't think it was criticism, but unless you HS, you don't really understand how they are 'in school' for so little time (as you have figured out). This afternoon Mat decided to teach himself how to convert from Farhenheit to Kelvin.;) He was reading his science dictionary!LOL I'm so glad that you enjoy HSling! Both my boys know pretty much do school on their own, which is HUGE. Mat honestly teaches himself everything (his choice). Joey reads very fluently so I simply check what he does (to make certain that he didn't come up w/his own directions!LOL) and that's it. I 'work' while they are working and it seems to work for now.
