Poor Mat

I made he and JOey sit in the van while I talked to the carpenter. We're in the middle of nowhere so no worries there and Mat knows better than to mess w/the van. Plus there are large (tied up) barking dogs that scare Mat to death. I occasionally do this when I need to get stamps too (full window and I park right in front). I was in there maybe 20 min and i came out and Joey said that Mat missed me. I gave the pat, that's nice. I get buckled up and turn around to back out and MAT WAS CRYING!!!!!!! He said he thought I forgot about him.

I was like HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT YOU?!?!?! So we had a talk and I part of why I didn't take them in is cuz Joey won't leave all that carpentry stuff alone and Mat riles him up. So I told him that was part of why I didn't let them come in and that when he learns to behave like the young man he is, he would be allowed. This discussion came about cuz he tried to say he was too little to cross the street to get the trash barrels. So we're having the 'if you want ot be older, you need to act older' converation.

Awww, poor Mat! Luke is sensitive like that sometimes, so I have had to learn what triggers the tears. And he is 9, but we are still doing the "act grown up and we'll treat your grown up" talk regularly. We're still doing it with our 11-year-old, too. Wonder when they will fnally get it?
