I have never been good at frying potatoes either. I usually cut them up and put them on a well oiled baking sheet in the oven to roast. The other thing to do is cut them very small and deep fry them once to get them cooked and then fry them a second time to make them crispy. This is also the secret to making nice crispy french fries.

It is even grander when they are your own veggies, and they are soooooo good.

Thank you all!

I can't tell you how many poor potatoes have suffered the wrath of my inept frying abilities! Truly, I'm quite decent in the kitchen and this has just always presented a problem for me (as does baking a GOOD chocolate chip cookie....LOL). So I was thrilled to death to accomplish it! I do think the garden fresh yukons made a WORLD of difference in the flavor (I mean WHO DOESN"T LIKE YUKON GOLDS?????? that rich buttery flavor........), but still, they were totally edible--all cooked, some crisp, none burnt. For me a total success!LOL

Hooray!

Hooray for you!!!
I tell you this is what I do, if you want my advice! ;)
I start out with some olive oil and I fry my potatoes for a little bit till they start turning brown, then I turn the heat down to low and put a lid on them and let them sweat a little.. It makes the insides soft while the outsides still have a little crunch to them!
HTH!

Congrats!

My Cup Runneth Over..

I love and can live on homemade french fries. I actually get cravings for them, and you should try dipping them in mayo, sounds yucky but soooo good. Good job, you go girl.
