To kill a thistle?

We got them from somewhere and they are spreading like wildfire! I can't get Dh to get on board to help me kill them and now they are INVADING MY GARDEN!!!!!!!!!!

There were also some in the herb garden, but I seem to have eradicated some of those. Tonight's became a victim due to a kitchen mishap (well most of my dead thistles are due to that!LOL). I started my hummingbird food and came up here and got sucked into blogland. I started reading them and was smelling something, but it meant nothing to me. I turned for some reason and saw SMOKE and then the smell hit me--BURNT SUGAR!ROTFL!!!!!!!! I flew downstairs and grabbed the pan (happy to see that it was still liquid!LOL) and poured it on the thistle. It wilted imediately--hopefully it killed the roots too! And now off to start more hummingbird food...........

I hate thistles!! We have them too. I have a tool called a weed hound that I use to pull them up- root and all.
