purging today!

Ok, I went thru our bookshelves and have a paperbox of books to get rid of. MOre if my sister wants some of these really nice hardbound toddler books. If she takes those, then I'll have room to empty this box sitting by the bookshelf! WAHOO!!!!!!! Then I got allt he HS stuff ready. WE START SCHOOL IN A WEEK! Well, I'm starting Joey on Monday, while Mat is gone to get him in the groove and figure it out w/o 1029348752489502 questions. Then Mat will start on Thursday.

I also worked out and got Mat's nonclothing things ready for camp. We only need to buy sunscreen and bug stuff! WAHOO! He won't take the bug'n'sun from last year, but I may have one last ditch effort at that.

Then I dusted and cleaned the bathrooms. Mat vacuumed on the main level and DH had some muddy shoes that somehow got all over the basement steps and it was getting tracked all over so I got that cleaned up.

I also had Joey take an end of year Kindy test to see and he's where I thought he was, which is good!LOL

ANd next week while Mat's at camp, we're going to do some purging and get it to Goodwill before he gets back.....;)

What are you using to homeschool Joey? I have a 4 yo I wanted to start. I was going to go with Abeka Kbut I would like to hear what you are doing. 2 more questions: 1. why know? What are you starting in July? And 2. Whay are you starting a 4yo? I bet for the same reasons I am but still...
Thanks

~~Actually I'm not big on formal stuff for a 4yo, but he's beyond ready academically (he can read a newspaper) and it will help for him to be doing that while big brother is doing his school (think less interruptions). I truly don't believe in formal cirriculum for this age either, BUT I did buy Math U See cuz I'm curious about switching Mat over to it. It's super hands on and I know that will appeal to Joey so I figured I'd get the beginner level and give it a whirl. It'll have great resale value if not. For LA and reading, we're using a Walmart workbook. I did not buy a formal cirriculum for Mat until he was in '2nd grade' and he did just great. I'm starting in July cuz in IN you are allowed a school year from 7/1-6/30 adn it's so stinking hot, what else are we going to do? We are usually done by March so when spring fever hits, I send the boys outside w/no guilt. HTH ~~Dana
