church camp

Well after some agonizing about whether this was the right time to send Mat or not, I was given the thought 'He will have the perfect counselor for him' during church today. That gave me so much peace and sealed the deal. Our assoc pastor is the camp director and I talked ot her (fighting off tears) and I feel very comfortable w/him going. They will be serving communion and we've not done that w/Mat so the 1st Sunday in June (our church serves communion the 1st Sunday of every month) we will talk to him beforehand and then let him have communion.

I was VERY concerned about the sleeping issues, but they don't go to bed until 10! We require Mat to be in bed at 9 even tho he doesn't usually go to sleep until 10:30--11 so I think this will be fine. We did tell him there is a manadatory lay down/quiet time for 30 min after lunch. I asked him if he'd like to go buy a special book to read during that time and he liked that idea. We are emphasizing NO TALKING OR NOISE MAKING then.

We also threatened him w/in an inch of his life for misbehaving!LOL But the assoc pastor knows him and (most importantly loves him anyway!) knows how to handle him. He's not a bad kid--he just tried to hard to make ppl laugh and has a hard time keeping his trap shut.

As a bonus, both my parents (independently) said they'd cover our portion of camp.
