Welcome to Dana's blog!

low grocery bills

Not really sure how I've pulled it off the past 2 months other than I just haven't had time to shop so we're eating from what's here!LOL

I buy no tomato products as I can them all. We buy our hamburger from the butcher. We raise our own pig. I can quite a bit of fruit. I buy local eggs for $1/doz. I buy local honey for $18/gal. I buy multigrain flour from the bulk food store--along w/different kinds of pasta (tomato rotini, basil lingini, etc). It's more than Aldi, but I feel the trade off in nutrition is worth it. We eat quite a bit from the garden in the summer. We make popcorn on the stove as a snack.

Aldi is my other secret weapon. Super cheap, quality (well as much quality as you can get from a grocery) food. Go to their website to see if there is one near you. I buy food almost solely from Aldi and the bulk food store.

I'll continue to try and remember to post my weekly menus (w/proportions if I think of it) to give you an idea of what I"m serving.

Hello!

I would like to see your menu's. Maybe I am buying too expensive stuff for meals? We do have an Aldi here in Ky. What kind of stuff you all buy?

Many Blessings,

Ma

* What about paper products, dishwashing liquid?

~~ Ah, that does not fall under grocery.;) we use virtually no paper products (the men use toilet paper, but they are men so not alot!LOL), we don't often use paper napkins or towels. We do use kleenex, but aren't often sick so not lots of those. That type of stuff falls under my Walmart category.
I did post this week's menu and will try really hard to remember to post next weeks. I only post suppers tho. Lunches are pretty irregular as Mat makes his own and it varies but we do eat lots of soups (usually canned, yes I know, shame on me) for lunch. My boys are both big eaters (they out eat me) so I have to keep lots of stuff on hand for them.
