parties and fabric.......

I did VERY well today all things considering. Turns out this retirement open house was a catered event!!!!! The spread there was AMAZING! I already was going to allow myself to eat a piece of cake and I only got a slice of roast beef and a slice of cheese. Considering what all they had laid out, I was EXCELLENT!LOL But they had speakers, slide show, etc. We were there 2.5 hours!! The boys were great too. Then off to Rural King. WAHOO!LOL But there is a Joann nearby and I was tryign to find a zipper for Mat's blanket sleeper (brand new and it broke!). Turns out they are going out of business--which is good and bad. Lots of deals, but they were out of long zippers.:( I did get some type of....ohhhhhhhhh that fabric. I can't think of the name of it. The coarse linen??? The fibers are huge and the weave is unmistakable--they usually make suits (for women) out of it. Anyway, I found a piece that was black w/dark brown and some other flecks. And it was marked down to $5/yd and 60% off of that. I even remembered to get me a black zipper!LOL They only had 20" ones, but you just whack those off for as long as you need them so I got both things for a total of $6.03--not too shabby IMO. I hope to get it made on MOnday. I'm not making it like the other pattern cuz I only have a bit over 2 yrds, but I do have a pattern in mind that I like so I just need to cut the grocery bag apart to get my template made and pray that it fits!ROTFL!!!!!!!!

Then home to make the spaghetti. We're running very late since we had no idea we were going to be that long at the retirement party and so I'm just beat. Joey is going to bed as soon as his supper is gone. Mat may not be far behind!LOL

You did really well with the food! I always find it difficult not to try everything they have on the table at a party : ) The fabric and the zipper were a bargain too!
