How long does your bra last?

11:51, 2006-Aug-25 .. Posted in daily life .. 6 comments .. Link

I'm either really hard on them or I expect too much out of them. I don't know which. I just had to mend (again) one of my bras. I have ONE bra that I have not mended or that isn't ready to fall apart. I told DH that I need 2 get 2 ones and I was waiting for the balking, but it didn't happen. I'm not sure he understood me tho!ROTFL! I want to go ALONE so I can try them on w/o the boys. I don't like Mat IN the dressing room w/me and I don't like him standing outside the door either. I need to make sure the ones that were fitted to me still fit!LOL There is no reason they shouldn't, but I want to make sure. I just dread paying for them..........

But I am a firm believer in buying a GOOD bra (that doesn't mean shelling out big bucks neceessarily). A good bra will support you, which helps your back, make your clothes fit so much better, and both of those tend you make you feel better about yourself. I'd much rather wear a $50 bra and a $3 shirt than the other way around.

I just couldn't pass up reading this one! Sorry, but I'm not much help- I buy the cheap ones from Wal-Mart. And I hate trying them on in the dressing rooms ;) !

Bra shopping.....arrrrgggg

I 'used' to purchase my bras at Fredricks of Hollywood. Lest you think I am a harlot :), I am not a very well endowed woman, and they had very nice, very simple padded bras. {{They have since gone out of business in my area}} I bought 2, at 35.00 each. They lasted me 9 years. I always hand washed them. I did so when I took a shower. I used Ivory soap to wash them and hung them on the shower head to dry. They never went into the washing machine or dryer.
I just bought 3 bras at Gap Body. So far I LOVE them. Very comfortable, and they look very nice on. They were 40.00 each. I am hoping that they will last just as long!!

Dana, girl, you just keep on cracking me up! Leave it to you and your creative way with blogging about life to have such a good read on bras! I just love you!!
I've tried the cheapies from Walmart and the good ones from the department stores. I have to admit I believe you probably save money in the long run on the better bras. They will last so much longer. I know....it down right hurts to pay so much for them though!!

Thank you for the feedback!

I got fitted at Dillard's and I LOVE the bras the lady picked out for me (that fit). I just need to have time to go in there and make sure! But one of them (my favorite of course!) is $56!!!!!! That's why I have a hard time parting w/the money. But my clothes look so much better w/that bra on.........
And I do use the handwash cycle on my washing machine and no dryer ever--not at that price!

I absolutely hate buying bras! I even went to the Jockey outlet and got fitted and the one they chose for me wasn't even comfortable. I try not to buy bras too often, luckily mine last a while.

I used to be - pre-children and nursing-on-demand - a nice small B cup. this means I NEVER wore the silly things, except for special occasions, weddings, hot dates, I think that was it. and never had any problems.
post pregnancy and nursing means I am very well-endowed indeed (I tell my husband I look like a tavern wench!) and I have to wear the silly things. I hate buying them and I hate wearing them, and I need to go find a new nursing bra, and I hate the ones that clip down.... so I am avoiding the process.
