![]() TVI have mixed feelings on the issue and I"m not really a fan of daytime TV AT ALL. But Family Fued is on so I occasionally watch it. It was the final question and the family was going for a 'steal'. The question was "What country do you most admire?" (close enuf). For the steal, they said (drumroll please) EUROPE! I was stunned and naturally started yelling at hte TV that that is a CONTINENT and not a COUNTRY!!!!! Italy, Englad, France were up there and Spain had been said (not on the board). AFter that shocking loss of steal, it goes to commercial. One of those fancy schmancy 'daycares'. Where they show what all a child can learn there. I wanted to vomit. I do alot of that stuff at home with Joey! He's 3 (I'm still in denial that his bday is less than 3 weeks away) and he read me a book! With words!LOL He knows his shapes and about animals and he plays music (ok, not alot!LOL). But it just saddened me to think taht this was only undermining any thoughts that some parents might have about a multitude of things. That they can't do it themselves, that their child won't 'succeed' if they don't get into that place, that they are failures as a parent if their child can't go for whatever reason, etc, etc. Then comes on a commerical the state is introducing. It's part of a series of commercials--I've seen 2 others about drowing. I agree w/those. But this one was about sleeping w/a parent/adult and how it KILLS! It obviously didn't kill Mat the first 3-4 years of his life! I'm not one of those 'we did it this way and our child is fine' types either. But there are safe ways to sleep w/a child. Ok, off my little rant. I was just stunned that 15 minutes of TV could make me so sour! Good thing the book I have on reserve is in at the library (thank you Karen!;)).
