I told the kids yesterday that I would take them to the local aquatic center to swim today if the girls' could get their room cleaned up by the end of the day. I was so excited this morning, since I wanted to do something special with them before the baby is born. Yes, we are still waiting. Well, the room was horrible this morning when I went to inspect it. They had worked on it all day and in the end one daughter didn't want to finish and she stuffed everything in to the closet and under beds. Needless to say there was no pool today. We spent the rest of the morning with Mom purging two large garbage bags from their rooms. That was the other part of the deal - yesterday was the final opportunity for them to demonstrate the ability to keep all the things in their room clean without Mom stepping in and deciding what would get to stay. I took about half the stuffed animals out and put them away. I am still deciding if they get donated or get to be kept in storage. I threw away every old notebook, little box, piece of paper, and broken item I could find - an entire large garbage bag. In the end their room looks so nice they don't want to leave. We have been doing lots of purging and cleaning later and things in generally look great. We are ready for the baby - but of course we have been for the last month. Later I decided it would be fun to take the kids to see the new Veggie Tales movie. My husband has been gone all day to a fire department burn and I called to make sure he'll be home in time to go. No such luck, so we are all bummed again. Now I am doing paperwork and taking care of the finances. It is just so difficult for me to take them all someplace if DH can not go with me.
