I'm Still Here - General Updates

I had a great post ready a couple of weeks ago and then . . . computer problems and it was lost.  I have been taking a blogging break after finding out people were reading my blog to glean information they could use against me.  It just took the steam right out of my blogging sails.  After careful consideration I have decided to come back to blogging, but to be more careful about what I share.

Things are slower this summer and my ability to get homesteading things done is hampered by the small children.  I hope that next year will be better and that I will at least have adjusted to being a mother to five or six children, including so many toddlers.  I canned cherries and we have been freezing berries.  I ordered peaches and we'll have enough tomatoes, green beans, apples, and pears from our garden and orchard.  I am just not sure I'll find the time to put it all up.  Of course canning season and soccer season always compete with each other which is also difficult.

Our garden is looking well although all of the winter items I have planted have been eaten alive by bugs.  DH is siding the chicken coop with some fir we had custom milled.  It will look really nicel; too nice for a chicken coop.  We bought some steers to raise for meat and a neighbor baled some of our grass for hay.

The pace is different this year but it is pleasing to know it is due to our growing and changing family.  The true joy of homesteading . . . creating a home for family.
