While we have already put strawberries in the freezer, we just finished our first canning - 21 jars of cherries.  It is exciting to start and I am working this year on taking it more easy and not stressing over getting it all done.  I am starting to know the rhythm of canning 800-1000 jars and so I don't have to mentally work so hard to get it done.  DH will try and glean some more cherries on Friday so we will can about another 21 jars over the weekend.  If we can U-pick a few more we'll try for a total of 60 jars.  Canned cherries is one of my children's favorite items for snacks and lunches in the winter and they are really one of the easiest items to can.

We are making progress around the house and it feels good.  With me heading back to work the girls and I have been talking about chores and housework.  We are going to try a cleaning hour with the girl's responsible for rotating districts with them doing everything in that district.  I'll be responsible for the deep cleaning during that time.  We'll see how it goes.

what kind of cherries do you can and what do you put on them if anything(syrup?) I have never done cherries. some pie filling. sounds like things are coming along. take care.
