I made the best bread ever. I am so proud of myself that I keep asking every family member what they thought of the bread. DH says, "oh yes it is soft," on the first day and I think maybe I have just been too picky about the bread being dry. But on day two DH takes it out of the cupboard and says, "Wow it is still soft." I raised the baking temperature, put less flour in so the dough was more sticky, and kneaded it longer )someone called while the mixer was going). Now I am desparately afraid that I won't be able to reproduce the results. We also got two goat today. DH will be staking them in areas that need eating. I hope it goes well because even though I was born and raised on a farm we never had goats. I asked DH what their names are and he says they will not have names. Perhaps it has been the arguments over the pigs names that have soured him to naming the goats. We told the kids that the pigs could only be named if the names reflected their eventual status as menu items. Our son named them Pork and Chop but our daughter continues to argue that she named them Sausage and Bacon. So for now the goats will be "the white one" and "the brown one." I am feeling much more like this is a farm. When people ask me if we live on a farm I say that we do. Then they ask what animals we have and I say, "2 pigs and some chickens." Then I always feel like I let them down. Now I can add "and we have two goats!" |
