Spring in January

- Post Comment After church we came home to finish up the rest of Kaleigh's homework.  After an hour of that a dear friend called and asked if we wanted to go on a hike. I usually don't hike in January, but it is usually not 50-60 degrees in January either.  What is with this springtime weather in January here in CT?  It's usually like 20 degrees this time of year.    Anyway... Me being the great lover of the outdoors and my kids needing to blow off a little steam, I said "Heck ya!"  She was in my house within 20 minutes and off we went to a place that is about 3 miles from my house.  Our family hikes there often and it was of great surprise to see some new trails that have been designed for the near by horse farm.  So we took them.  We walked, talked and got muddy for hours.  Before we knew it, it was starting to get dark and we were nowhere near the place we had started.  We started to rush and began to pray that the Lord would  deliver us out of the woods before it got dark.  Well he sure did.  It was just about dark when we came to a large field out in the middle of nowhere.  We could see houses in the distance with their lights on so we knew civilization was nearby.   We continued on and got to the road just as the sun had set.  We turned the corner, a car pulled up.....it was my hubby...He had come to look for us.  AWWWWW!  He was worried that it was dark and we were not home yet.  When we got to the car we realized we had hiked for almost 2 hours!  I bet our children will sleep like a ton of bricks tonight!  I know I will.  We had a blast and it was much needed.  Our kids loved the adventure.  They pretended to be in Narnia....lol.  Well thanks Donna for your last minute adventures!  Keep 'em coming!

How fun! I would love to have a place to hike so close to home! Thanks for sharing.

About Me

I am a mother of three. I desire to grow closer with the Lord and raise children who love and honor Him. Knowing I am a work in progress, I have decided to start this blog to keep in touch with family and friend from a far and perhaps meet some new ones who can help me in this journey of life.
