Teen Challenge

I was blessed beyond words by a group that came to our church yesterday to tell us about their program. They are a Program called Teen Challenge who takes people in from drugs and alcohol and helps them find Jesus and kick their addictions. They just recently celebrated 50 years and were coming to ask for our prayer and financial support. Government and independent studies show that they are the most effective rehabilitation program in the world, with a 74-98% effective rate. I might have the numbers a little off from what I read yesterday but the fact is when people have the power of Jesus in their lives they can beat anything! The most touching part of the day was their testimonies. I often hear people talk of coincedence, but I know there is no such thing. It is all part of God's master plan. Sometimes we don't understand his plan but we are to trust in the fact that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. One man that spoke, told of how when he was addicted to heroin, he got a job at a printing press, where two Christians worked. He ended up going to church with them and meeting the pastor there who had himself been redeemed by God through this program. It was so awesome to hear how God worked in his life and to remember some of the ways he has similarly worked in my life to redeem me almost 11 years ago. He is a God that cares about us ALL!

Teen challenge is awsome. We ( my oldest & I) just read 'the cross and the switchhblade' I believe that is the story of how teen challenge started.
It is also so great to be thankful for what God has done in our lives; to see the changes He's made in us. He is better to us than we deserve.
Also, loved the birthday pics. You do great parties, I'm impressed. Simple cake/ice cream here w/ family. Loved all the ideas! Is that you in the pic w/ the dress? Lovely!

He truly is a awesome God!! Aren't we glad He doesn't give up on us even when we do. I haven't dealt with that type of addiction although my son has found many demons in that area and Praise God He loves us NO matter what just because. I am so thrilled you had the opportunity to witness the power and love that this program offers as they visited. God is ALIVE and WE know it. Hallelujah!! Thanks for sharing! rilda *U*
