What I am reading

09:00, Wednesday, January 16, 2008 .. 6 comments .. Link

I love to read but I have this problem when I start reading 1 book, I start to read another, and then another before finishing 1!  I also have a couple audio c.d.'s I still need to finish listening to.  Two by the Vision Forum,

1. The Wise Woman's Guide to Blessing her Husbands Vision, and

2. 24- Hours is All You Get

So far I have only listened to half of Blessing your Husband's Vision!  Doug Phillips is right on target when he speaks about how to have a healthy marriage.

I absolutely LOVE to read.  My husband and I are night and day.  He only reads when he has to.

 1. The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, By: Terry Ryan

This is a very interesting book about a mother of 10 during the 50's who made ends meet by entering into contests that she had to put her creative side to use writing jingles for companies.

3. The Shunning, By: Beverly Lewis

So far this book is about a young girl growing up in an Amish household, who at this point in my reading I am gathering she was taken  in as a baby into this Amish home.  The mother is trying to keep it a secret from her.

3. The Tightwad Gazette III , by: Amy Dacyczyn

I am not planning on reading because I have the Complete Tightwad Gazette that includes all 3.

4. The Complete Tightwad Gazette, by: Amy Dacyczyn

This book is so informational!  I have always been rather frugal but never thought of keeping a price book for supermarkets.  This is an excerpt from the book, "My price book is a small loose-leaf binder.  Each page contains prices for one item, and the pages are in alphabetical order for quick reference.  I include my code for the store name, the brand, the suze of the item, the price, and the unit price.  It quickly became evident that not every sale was really a sale.  But when I did find a good buy, and I could verify it with months of records...what power!  I could stock up with confidence."

F.Y.I. -you should be able to borrow this book from your local library.

I plan on getting out a new notebook and starting this immediately!  Does anyone keep a price book?  If you do, please share your experience.

I just finished reading the Tightwad Gazette II. It was full of great ideas.

I am also a fan of Beverly Lewis. I have read all of her books, with the exception of the last one.

I just went out yesterday and splurged on the Beverly Lewis movie, based on her book, Sarah Cain.

I can't wait to watch it tomorrow.Too much going on today.

Have a blessed day in The Lord!

We have similar taste in books!

I really loved The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio!

I loved her resourcefulness in tight times, and I love, love, love the ending.
