Financial Goals....

07:51, Thursday, December 27, 2007 .. 2 comments .. Link

Having a budget and sticking with it has saved our family thousands of dollars the past five years, setting financial goals has helped us stay on track and not lose focus.

Here are a few of our financial goals since reading "The Total Money Makeover, by: Dave Ramsey-
-Continue to stay out of credit card debt.

-Pay off my student loans

-Pay off our van payment, then save for future vehicle purchases without taking out any loans.  Dave Ramsey inspired us.  If you put $464 per month in a cookie jar for just ten months, you will have more than 4,000.00.  Buy a used van for 4000.00 but continue to tuck away 450.00 month for another 10 months, then have 8,000.00 toward a newer van, do that as many times as we like.  AND NEVER HAVE A CAR PAYMENT AGAIN!

-Build up an emergency fund of six month's worth of expenses.

-Pay more on our mortgage payment monthly.  Would like to pay off our mortgage in less then 30 years.

Dave Ramsey has inspired us to read more books on money.  We don't want to be completely naive with our money.  We want to make the best use of it as possible.  As Dave Ramsey says, "If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else".

What are some of your family's financial goals?

You go girl! I know many people don't have a clue how to save and spend the way they should. It must be an awareness with a desire to do it and all the time~ I am sure that makes you or breaks you. Father give them their hearts desires for you put them there. Thank you for giving them your wisdom to succeed in this venture. For with you it happens. In Jesus' Holy Name!

God must be telling me I need this book. You must be the 4th person I have read a blog on in that many weeks that has mentioned this book!!!

You have some great goals set there girl!!! I hope and pray that you achieve each and every one of them.

We have all debts paid off except the house, but no savings, so we need to work on that and some of the other things you mentioned here.

Thanks for the blog and the inspiration to get our finances in order. I am buying that book tomorrow!!!

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo
