Rising gas prices

How has the raising gas prices effected you and the way you live?  What are some of your plans if the prices keep rising?  At this point in our lives we are not living out in the country, maybe that is a blessing.  We have a bus line that runs through our area, so we could ride the bus if we wanted.  Actually, we as a family just did that for fun a couple weeks ago.  Would any of you consider taking the bus, if it were possible?  I am not sure what it is like in the area where you all live, but in our area if you take the bus your considered lower class.  If gas prices keep raising I don't think we'll care if people saw us taking the bus!  We also will be walking and bicycling more.  Right now we average about $100 dollars a week if we don't take any day trips.  Not taking day trips in the summer is difficult for us!  We love to travel in the summer!  In some ways I think it is good that we think twice before getting in the van and ramming around town.  There is something humbling about it, don't you think?  What are all your opinions about the raising gas prices, not to mention the rising cost of food?  It is a little scary!  Please share.

With gas prices on the rise, we have had to tighten back in other areas of our budget to compensate. Hubby works about 25 miles from home, so we have no choice but to spend the money on gas for his car to get back and forth. My car sits in the drive most days unless I really need to get out for a doctor's appointment. If I need something at the store, I make a list and have hubby get it while he is already out. We aren't taking any trips this year either, but maybe next year. We live in a small town, so there are is no public types of transportation except for the OATS bus, and with a 2 year old in a car seat, this isn't feesible for our family.

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo
