Gearing up for School!

Well, I will be spending the rest of today finishing the last of my lesson plans for the year.  Next week we start school again!  YAY!!!

I am planning out the entire year's lessons ahead of time, so that I don't have to take time all through out the year to do the "next month's" plans and the "next month's" plans, etc.

This year's curriculum:

JM..

Math:
"Algebra 1 with the DIVE cd" (Saxon)
German:
"Rosetta Stone"
In addition, she is taking Choir and Financial Peace (Dave Ramsey) through our homeschool co-op, and is helping at a local stables and taking a class online for Equine Studies.  She will also be doing a hands-on unit of botany.

JD...

and assigned classic reading

"Science: Order & Reality" (A Beka)
Social Studies:
"History of the World" (A Beka)
In addition, he is taking a Geography class with our homeschool co-op.
Spelling:
"Building Spelling Skills: Book 7" (CLP)

He is also participating in a "Scrabble Club" to help with vocabulary and spelling, playing Homeschool football, and other extra-curricular activities.

JR...
Math:
"Saxon Math 5/4"
Science:
"Observing God's World" (A Beka)
Spelling:
"Building Spelling Skills: Book 6" (CLP)
English:
"English 5 Writing & Grammar" (from CLP)
he is also reading the "Beyond the Horizon" and "Windows to the World" A Beka reading series
Social Studies:
"The United States Yesterday and Today"
He is also taking the Geography class through our co-op.

Like his brother, he is also participating in a "Scrabble Club" to help with vocabulary and spelling, playing Homeschool football, and other extra-curricular activities.

And for bible, we are using "Exploring God's World"

We also have several field trips planned....another trip to the zoo, a trip up to the museums to see the current display of the "Dead Sea Scrolls" and all the rest of the exhibits, a trip to a Historical Farm Festival (we go every year!) and a few others.
