Well as of tonight I am a member of our local farmer's market. For right now until I get the Menagerie completely back on its feet I am under my best friend's farm, Soaring Eagle. This is just plain awesome. Between us both we will be able to grow enough fruits and veggies to feed both large families, and make a few dollars.
The more I have read and the more that I have thought about it, making our mini homestead into a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) mini farm makes absolute sense. I should be able to generate enough income to supplement what DH makes and to run the operation itself. I am not looking to make a million bucks, just a little something extra.
So now I need to draw up a plan of action to accomplish this. That will take a little bit of time and planning but I think I can make it work. It would be just wonderful to be able to afford to do things correctly (ok...I am a perfectionist and a total SHE [Sidetracked Home Executive, just ask the FlyLady about that one]) and help us to stock our pantry for a lot less money, while providing the local community with decent fresh local produce.
Well I didn't realize how late it is...need to pull the meatballs from the oven and get my rear end in bed...
