Yesterday was absolutely wonderful. My best friend and her husband went with me, actually took me, to a fellow freecycler's house to look at a rabbit cage. It is in need of some small repairs. So we picked it up. The gentleman also offered his portable chicken coop. It is small but great for getting started while the shed and the back yard are being rehabbed. It can hold 4 rabbits. 2 sections for bucks and 2 for does, is how the other gentleman had set it up. I will probably stick with just one buck and leave one open as a weaning cage.

So to get started with our small livestock we are looking at saving a ton of money. A couple pieces of plywood and some 2x4's for right now. As the spring progresses the rest will get done. We will be bringing home our Dominique rooster (Rooster Rooster) and hen (Henny Penny). Brownie and Mocha (our bunnies) will also be joining us.

We are very excited to be moving ahead with our plans for turning this into a mini homestead.
