A week with no rain!

Well, the week is tooling right along and no sign of rain! Yes, that is what we have needed for a while.

We have the fourth of July weekend coming up and it looks like we will be able to walk out in our yards and not sink up to our ankles! No slosh, slosh, slosh. Along with that dry yard comes our 90 degree temperatures. I am not complaining...just longing for the mountains. : )

We may have to forego the much desired camping trip to the Colorado mountains this year...so we can keep the old jalopy full of gas. I guess it will just be a good time to hang out at home and strum. There is a good thought.

Well, you know they say absense makes the heart grow fonder...that is definitely true where the mountains are concerned. I will have to put next year on the calendar.

Hope you all have a great 4th. Until next time...

Cheers!

First ever out in public play date for me~! Great fun!

These are just a few of the members of the dulcimer club I belong too. We have 6 mountain dulcimer players on the front row and one husband on the end. In the back we have 2 guitars, a hammered dulcimer and manolin player. If you are more interested in the group you can look  it up at GPDA.org.

Summertime!

Well summer is in full swing and so are the summer activities. My teenage daughter plays softball on a traveling team (we are pretty local, however, due to gas prices this year) and also on the girls city league. So, my time is strung thru her games and my own activities. Needless to say, I haven't posted for quite sometime.

Our stay at Wildwood Cove was a great time. The rains had all the lakes up so we didn't get to go fishing or out on a boat, but had fun just hanging around the campsite and playing v-ball and frisbee. We went into Grove, Oklahoma on afternoon for local shopping and icecream. There were some cute little shops there. Cabins were very quaint and we loved our campground hosts. Even had dinner with them one night and was pleasant!

So...what other amazing things are happening in the sunflower state? Rain! We are getting quite the supply of rain. It has rained at least once a week ...every week for the last 5 weeks. It rains as I post. The rain is great for a restful weekend..but sure messes up the outdoor life.

I am spending quite a bit of time this summer learning to play my mountain dulcimer better with club members. I even played at a jam at the Botanica Gardens this week and that was my first ever really out in the open jam. It was fun, it was hot.....and I know next time will be a better performance even. We had probably 6 mountain dulcimer players, one hammered dulcimer, two guitars and one banjo/mandolin player. We had a play list of about 20 songs.....2-3 of which I am still not even close to getting, but the rest I did fairly well.

Recently I discovered my new big hope! I want a BanjMo or Banjimer. It is an instrument that sounds like a banjo but is played like a mountain dulcimer. It is cool! How eager I am to add this to my collection of acoustic instruments.......and playing time.

Hope you all have loads of fun morn, noon and night!

Until next time I am strumming my life away!
