My does miss their kiddies. I miss their kiddies tooooo! You can tell
they are kinda looking around for the kids and feeling a little lonely.
Their udders are huge. I'm only milking them once a day so they dry up.
I milked at 8:00 this morning and now they are not entirely full yet.
Yesterday I milked at 4:00 in the afternoon and by 8 this morning their
udders were so full they were hard. I'm just afraid of mastitis, but I
guess the pressure of the milk in her udder will stop her from making
milk.
I'm in the process of making yogurt (it's sitting in it's hot water
bath, it needs to for a few hours) and hopefully it won't turn out
watery like last time. I know goat milk yogurt is supposed to be less
hard than cows, but there was like, an inch of water on the top. It's
because when I poured some water out of the cooler that the jars of
yogurt sit it, the water went in the jars.
*sigh* Back to school tomorrow. I dislike fall.

I wouldn't worry about mastits just because they are full-my first goat was really hard and tight after I had her a day. Just use your Fight Bac or whatever you use and they should be fine. (Even drying them off cold turkey is supposed to be OK).
My yogurt thickened in the fridge overnight-try that...and gelatin and some dry powdered milk really help. I used 1 c gelatin and 1/3 c. dry milk per gallon of milk-turned out like yoplait custard style. Let it set at 110-129 degrees for 6-8 hours.
Thanks for the opportunity to buy your kids-they look great and are so healthy. You should be proud-you did a great job with them. They are adjusting just fine and get along well with the does. Our children are loving them every minute. Stop in and see them anytime.
You find a nice buck yet? I hope you get yourself some nice nubie kids next time :)
