Thanksgiving is here a wek early for our family

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Yesterdat mornig after getting the children off on the bus, HB and I got the barn work done and prepared for a day of butchering chickens and turkeys. We worked and actually got them all 35 meat birds and 9 turkeys done. WHAT A DAY. I was both cold and hungury when it was all done and the children were just getting home from school when we finished. I was smart in the morning and made a Hamberger soup in the slow cooker for supper and there was still bread left. Yummy and warm supper for a cool Fall day.

I left 20 meat birds whole and frooze them along with 8 turkeys. I kept the smallest turkey out for tonights supper. Yum a fresh turkey what could be better?

I did cut up chicken with the other 15 chickens and made room for them all in the freezer.

We were really behinf this year but time was just not with us, but after chasing chickens off the road all week and finding them in the woods 1/4 mile away then we new it had to be done.

So today is a homey clean up day. I just finished making the stuffing for the bird and putting it tin the oven and now deciding what else im having with it.

It has been really chilly here latly and I can say  really love Fall

Nice cool Morning

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

What our home has been up too. New puppy arrived his name is Brew(like the one off of the raccoons, remember that show)

got another 10 pounds of beets canned (hey thats 30 pounds already) Not bad

made celery relish, salsa, and did up 3 1/2 feed bags of corn blanched and baged them into 6 in a bag and froze for a delish side veggie this winter.

Made a new bottle of vanilla and in a month will have a new batch ready. (gotta luv that)

Made pie crusts.

Now this week trying to do up apples, apple pies, and yummy chunky apple sauce.  HB picked all 38 pumpkins. Gave a few away to family and friends and still have a bundle left. So next week I will need to make pies, pumpkin perserves, and do up enough to freeze so that we will be able to enjoy all those good pumpkin dishes all winter long.

We still need to butcher our meat chickens and our turkeys, geese and ducks. Time seems to be the problem why we are so late with that. HUMMMM am I the only one.

The wee one is sick

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

What a week, Sunday we left for a trip 6 hours away for a assessment for my Jaynes eyes. But before we left we had to call for the vet as our dear little Dora the black lamb was not doing very well. So after dishing out big bucks for a SUnday call and all the meds for her, we were on our way.

Later that night in the hotel room My wee one Jill started running a fever and had a terrible night. Of course I forgot to bring tyonol so it was a very long night. Monday she was sortof  icky all day and getting the fever releiver into her was a challenge. Well after staying away for 2 days and having a long trip back with a sick kid I was sooooo tired. I left the other 2 children home from school yesterday to get rested as they did not sleep well either. Jill is still home this morning with a terrible cold. Poor wee one.

I have managed to get the laundry caught up again and put a roast in the slow cooker. The line is full of cloths and all the barn work is done. The second floor is still a disaster but Hubby started his night shifts and he is still sleeping and I don't want to wake him. The dish washer was just turned on, so I have a little down time to catch up on reading and writing my blogs. (which I have missed)

The new puppy will be arriving on Saturday and still no name HELP!!!

I also need to finish up my pickles and salsas over the next few days. I also received a yummy recipe for my plums a tasty plum sauce for our pancakes.(thanks to my friend over at faithfarm) I am always looking for a use for the ton of plums my tree produces.

Well brake time is up,time to go and start a new batch of sour dough starter.

Take care and have a blessed day.

I can feel the cold temptures setting in

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

There was achance of frost last night. I had to use old sheets and cover up the tomatoes, beans, and flowers that might be in danger. This mornig it was chilly in the house and needed to light the fire and put a small fire to take the chill ou of the house. At the busstop the kids asked me if it was going to snow soon. (my goosh I don't want to here those words yet) LOL

Well I managed to clean off my collect all Island, and the rest of the counter tops. Ran the dish washer and did a quick tidy up in the rooms and living room.

Took out some pork chops for supper and will make a BBQ sauce to go with them. I am also going to make a blueberry buckle for desert. YUM YUM

I also need to make cookies as the jar is empty (only after finding out when I went to go and get a pick me uper at about 8 o clock. Superise there's none left)

My sheep are in their breeding season now so I have been heavly graining them. The chickens are laying well. My new layers are just starting to produce. My meat birds and turkeys are just getting ready to be butchered.

Thats the end of the month job.

We are leaving on Sunday to take my Jay to the children's hospital about 6 hours away for some assements on her eyes. We aill be back on Tuesday night. So our family and neighbours are taking careof our animals

Back To School

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

WOW I can not beleive it, where or where has the summer gone. Part of me was so happy to see them off knowing that I will get so much done with them in school. The other part of me already misses them soooo Thats the bigger part. ( its days like this that I wish I homeschooled)

My youngest Jill has started school this year. She really is not happy about it yet. Missing Mom and Dad is the biggest problem she is facing. (poor little thing if she only knew how much we miss her too, it would make her want to stay home even more). I know as the days and weeks go on she will make new friends and learn so much.

As for Mom, I have been busying trying to keep it off my mind. Monday I cleaned out the pantry selves and HB made some new pine shelves in there. ( hes having trouble with the missing her too problem) I washed all my mason jars and bottles and washed everything down. Made a huge boiled dinner last night for Supper even put corn on the cob broke in halves in it as well. (Its one of the childrens favorite suppers). I made homemade bread and hot biscits to top it off. YUM. I did loads of dishes and washed cloths.

Today besides washing cloths and dishes again I managed to put 10 pounds of beets on to cook and made a pumpkin pie for desert tonight. I also made a batch of banana muffins. I took out 4 pounds of hamberger and will make a meatloaf for supper, with new potatoes, carrots, brocolli, coliflower out of the garden. YUM . I also did get the bedrooms tidyed up and kitchen, bath, and living done as well.

WOW no wonder I needed to sit and take a break.

What time of the year is it again?

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

We are finally getting away from all that ran and getting some extreme heat. I won't complain as we sure need it here.

We made it back from our trip to the fair to show our sheep. We did alright, Justin did very well as usual and the girls showed for the first time this year. I am very proud of all of them. The weather was beautiful and the campground that we stayed in was very nice, but as always Im am happy to be back home on the farm. All the animals behaved themselves for our dear friend that was looking after them.

I have been washing, washing and washing trying to catch up on the colths and bedding that we had with us. I also thought since the weather was perfect what a great time to wash the summer quilts on the beds as it has been awhile.

I will use the next couple of days to put everything in the house back in order and help in the feilds with the hay. I also need to get my blueberries done up and keep a close eye on the plums in the tree before the birds get them.

well I better head out to the feild with the girls and bring the guys some ice water.

Peach TIme

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

By my Title you all parobly know what I have been up to latly. Yes Peaches, peaches, and more peaches. We don't grow them here, but when the local store puts the baskets on sale then you stock up and buy. Then you come home and fill the fruit basket, and make peach jam and peach jam with lemon jello(my favorite) and peach pies, and freeze cooked peaches to be able to make more peach pies and cobler all winter long. And then dream of peaches.

Besides peaches I have also been  busy picking fresh herbs from the garden between rain showers as it has been rainning here for soooooo long. I filled the green house with hanging herbs to dry. Adding fresh herbs to my oil and vingars, and using  some of them to cook my meats. Yummy!

The raspberries are now just about finished and the apples and cokecherries are gettting both bigger and deeper colors everyday. So they will be next. The veggie garden has given us a plentiful harvest this year with beans, peas, greens and radishes. THe freezers are filling quickly. The corn will be ready soon. Along with the potatoes.

As for hay making well thats been a nightmare this year very little made yet, as we have not had 2 days together of no rain. We are starting to worry, and are beginning to get low on hay. The grains in the feilds are looking good.

We are all getting excited as this week is the week we go to the fair to show our sheep and the children have been preparing and awaiting for the last few weeks. We are taking our travel trailer and staying at the campground not to far from the fair. It is a 3 hour drive to get there. Last year was out first year going and being involed and we all had such a good time. My poor sewing machine has been working overtime getting outfits made for the childrens sheep parade and I can't say how many times I have burnt myself trying to glue decorations together with the gluegun for the setup in the stables witch house the sheep.

Besides everything thats been going on here on the farm, I am still doing my best to keep the house at its best. (only getting done what gets done in a single day  and not worrying anymore if I have to wait another day to get something else done)

Laundry (hanging all over the bathroom and back room as I hate to have to use the dyer.

Dishes as usual(even with a dishwasher the sick is still always full)

Baking Breads, cookies and squares to take away with us.

I am still waiting for flour to go on sale as we are down to our last 2 bags and the price has doubled here on it. I always stock up every Fall when it goes on sale. I have done this for years. But recently flour has doubled in price, and I am worried that it won't go on sale this Fall. I don't know if I can afford to buy it at high prices. Maybe I should griding our wheat into flour instead of using it to feed the livestock.....hummmmmm.... Any of you ladies ever tried that?

Oh What To Do With The Kids

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

"Mom Im bored" and its only the first day. Help!!! What am I going to do with them to keep them from getting to bored? Anyone have any new ideas for some different crafts and activities for outdoors until it warms up enough for the pool. We do the whole dye die t-shirts and paint rocks, scavenger hunts and pinics in the feild. I am in needs of a new things to stay the super cool mom that my kids think I am. I just need to get to Thursday as HB will then be off for five days and the kids never get bored with Dad.

I received my email today from Homestead #9 and found it to be so true and exciting to read.If you gals have not yet signed up for it your missing out on some good stuff. www.newharvesthomestead.com

Today the rain finally stopped and we got some humid weather  24 and 30 with thr humidity. I hope it stays.

I did laundry and more laundry and the cloths lines were so full. I finished up my walkway flowerbed and even finished some wiperstiping on the lawns. Made a Shepperds Pie for supper with homemade garlicbread and cooked rhubarb for desert. Oh yes I almost forgot I also did up and froze some more rhubarb in 2 cup bags as I can never have enough.

All in all I think I did manage to get things done even if the kids were complaining they were bored.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Today is suppose to be the first day of Summer. Well I think poor Mother nature made a Mistake and skipped a season as the temps. are more like Fall. It has been rainning here for almost a week and the forcast has more rain for the next few days ahead. My Gardens are flooded and my annuals look terrible. Besides all this rain makes the grass go to fast and its costing us a small fourtune on fuel.

But besides the rain and cool temps. the girls went to a Birthday party today for a close friend. It is always the Birthday Party that everyone talks about. Its the same theme every year. A real circus theme. Like a fair. THey rent a hall and put on a real good party for the children. The only thing missing was the pony rides. We all have such a good time every year.

My dear HB got the electricity and propane up and running in the trailer today. Bless his dear heart getting up after working a night shift and having so much on his mind latly. The kids and I are so happy that now we have a fridge and running water in the trailer. This all means that we spend more time out there and my house stays cleaner longer. MAYBE!!

Tonights supper was homemade pizza with ceaser salad. Yummy! Jayne's favorite. Tomorrow we are headed across the feild to my parents for brunch as it stays alot quiter for HB to get some sleep. I love Sundays. My dad is still a great cook after all these years.

Supper is potatoe scallop and glazed ham with steamed vegs. I will have some fresh rolls with it as well as a butterscoth pie for desert.

Take care until my next blogging.

A New Little Kitty

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Our home has openned its doors to yet another new family member. A small muti colored female kitten. It came here from another farm as one of three little kittens that the mamma was very nice and polite. My dear hubby decided that our outdoor cat Maggy May needed a friend so he brought her home for her. Well she was much to tiny to go out to the barn at the moment, so she is now taking over the house and Bindi the little kitten is winning the hearts of the kids. At the moment the kitten has just attacked my feet.

On a sad note my dear Hubby has just got layed off. We have had a long week. Thinking and not sleeping. But now for some better news he was just offered a new job that pays around the same. Yes I am just on cloud nine as we were excepting the worse of him having to go away to work.

The garden is coming and we planted so much vegs this year. We just finished doing a beef so the freezer is full. The turkeys are growing so fast, and the meat birds are not far behind.

This is the last week of school for the children and they are looking forward to summer.

Well its off to bed for me as I can feel my eyes getting heavy. Take Care and God Bless

Rain, Rain and more Rain

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

It has been rainning off and on for the last 24 hours and I am just about geady to go and do a rain dance. The house floors are ready for dome sun too, as I have washed them so much the last two days. Between kids and dogs.

Well my little Jill had the most cutest graduation Thursday. It was priceless as they had all of us in tears with the song they played as the little ones came in and then left. Billy Dean "Let them be litle"  They were all given a dipolma and sang 4 of the cutest songs I have ever heard. We all enjoyed cake and other goodies. What a nice day.

Friday HB and I worked around the yard and took the children out for supper. Saturday we went to yard sales. One of my favorite things to do. I bought little Jill some cloths, and found her a pair of size 6 coveralls just like her big brother and dad. PRICELESS!!! and best of all only $2. Jayne got more Barbies and a winnie the poo house coat that was like new for a dollar. The girls each also got a ring for .50 cents and I bought a band new stainless steel kettle for the wood range for $1, and a microwave for the trailer for $5. Justin got a large rubbermaid tub of lego for $1 WHAT GREAT FINDS. Poor HB did not find anything that he was looking for. I went to my neighbours plant sale and came home with alot of new plants and shrubs that I did not have before. So We worked all the rest of the afternoon yesterday planting inbetween rain storms. Had a nice BBQ for supper last night, and ended the evening with a movie.

This morning HB did up the barn work and left me sleep in. How nice! I got up at 9 and made a big brunch. Made a batch of laundry soap and did a couple of loads of laundry. Supper tonight is chicken peices in the oven with BBQ sauce and rice, and homemade buns. I think we will have lemon pudding cake for dessert. Yum!!

Wednesday Wishings

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Is anyone else out there finding it hard to go turn on the computer and blog? This is my first Spring/Summer of blogging and am feeling bad for not getting on very much. I have spent every minute I could outdoors as there is so much to cover and do at this time of year. I find I need a rainy here and there to be able to blog.

Well the weather is still cool here, but we do get a day or two of warmer temps. Well parobly not as warm as the rest of you but for here 20Degreees is warm for this time of year, and the flys have not hit yet so we try to get the gardenning and cleaning done while we are not getting chewed.

Today is a cleanning day here for Little Jill and I. I have a sink full of dishes that need to make it to the dishwasher. I have a load of laundry in the washer and have another three waiting their turn to get done. The dishwasher can't run until I get the laundry done. So I am behind again. But on a nicer note the laundry will dry great on the line today as we have a nice wind. After blogging and having my coffee I will get the floors swept and washed and give the bathroom a quick cleanup. We are having a macoronni casserole for supper with garlic bread and rubarb role with cream for dessert. Thats where Jill comes in, she can help me pick the rubarb and feel good too.

Speaking of my cute little angel, Jill is graduating tomorrow morning from her pre-school. I can't beleive she will be starting school in the Fall. She is so proud of herself as she even made invitations to the ceromony. Too cute.  I will miss her so much this Fall as I am use to being with her all day enjoying our special secert breakfasts, fish luches and doing things together.

I don't remember if I had metioned before of HB did some trading last fall for a older travel trailer. Anyways we ended up getting one in mint condition and parked it out buy the pool. Well Jill and I cleanned it out and the kids are having a ball playing in there, and best of all I can keep the house somewhat clean. I hope it stays that way all summer. I planted most of the garden now with only a few things remainning, which I hope to get done over the weekend. HB made me a whole new herb garden with a beautiful layout. I love my man.......

Well till I get another moment take care everyone and God bless you all.

Yes I am still here

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Hello to you all. I am so ahppy to finally be able to sit down tonight and blog. I can't beleive it has been over three weeks since i last blogged. Since then we have been very busy here on the farm. Justin turned 10 on the third of March. I say 10 but more like 10  going on 75 as he is so old fashioned and fits in with all the older farmers around. My grrenhouse is in full spirts. I have so much up in there coming all so well, and running out of room. My vanilla extracts are ready and are perfect. The incubator is running and is filed with eggs from the coop and duck eggs as well as show chickens. The geese should start to lay pretty soon as well.

The lamp post light that is at the bottom of my front walk way stands over 7 feet high and now is no longer  in sight. It has been buried in the snow. This is the most snow we have seen since i was a child. It has runied mostly all our fences and it will long days ahead mending. And most of all the big reason I have not blogged latley is that it is lambing time here on the farm. I have been taken over with lambs 31 to date. Along with my goat kids. So they are not giving me to much computer time. But the family all loves this time of year so very much even though it does require alot of time in the barn and less outside the home.

I hope all of you had a lovely Happy easter with your families, as did we.

I also got a new printer with a scanner on it so will now be able to send out some pictures from here on the farm shortly.

Well that about catches you all up about me and the family. Take care everyone and have a enjoyable evening.

Saturday's Storms

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Yet another weekend and yet another storm. Yes it true we have had so much snow this year and we are so wanting spring to come. Another blizzard is forcasted for tonight with 100 km winds and 30 cm of snow. Terrible that will mean that we will ahve to spend the most of the day today preparing the farm. It is the begginning of March break for the children and HB is off for the weekend (what a way to start)

Monday is my son's birthday. WOW 10 already I can't beleive it. Justin has always been my baby even though he is my oldest, and only boy.

He has asked for a marble cake with boiled icing, and my homemade KFC chicken, potatoe salad, cornbread, spagetti salad, and buttermilk biscuits. I m going to be busy. He has aked for a friend to come over for the day. We were wanting to get him a cacti garden, and a pair of doves. As their is a breeder that has some for sale here in town.

I need to make my entry short today as I must get going to prepare for the storm. Take care and have a lovely day

Catching up to Monday

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

WOW is really has been a long time since I blogged. Well let me see if I can can get all caught up. Well I spent all of last week trying to get alot done as Jayne my mid girl  had to go into the hospital to have dentel surgury done. So I tryed to get all the laundry done and the dishes as well. The house cleaned. The pantry and fridge filled up and did I manage to get it all done? Not bad. Except for all the laundry put away. This reminds me never have your laundry room in with your bathroom. I should have thought of that when I built. There is always dirty cloths on the floor and clean cloths on top of the dryer. I have he hardest time taking them right up to the bedrooms and putting them away right after they are done. Does anyone else have that problem?

Anyways I took Jayne in Friday morning and she had 7 teeth removed poor thing. 2 being her permenent molers. As they never developed properly. She was up and about late friday night and we got home around 5. She is stil home with me a for the next few days and eating gradually. She seems to be coming along very well. My mom bought her a webkinz so she has been playing on the computer with it and playing other games. This morning the girls painted wooden puzzles I bought at the local dollarstore.

Also on Friday morning HB and Justin and also A farm helper we have help out went three hours to the next city and bought a llama for me. He comes from a zoo. He is really beautiful as he is tri-tone (brown, black, and white) and will be a big help with protecting my sheep. He seems to be doing really good so far. and has come to take our trust. His name is Axel and he is 12.

Our incubator has been working well again this year. we have a few call ducks and slicki chicks hatched already and are going to start with the rode island reds soon. Justin is so excited as this is his project everyyear. It is still early here for the birds as it is still cold temps. out. Another storm forcasted for wednesday and again on the weekend. There has been so much snow here this year over 5 feet.

On a spring note the green house is doing good, I was so worried about it on Friday with no fire on only electric heaters. but everything was alright. my baby spinich is just about ready and the other greens are begginning to come up. Some flowers are also poping through. I finally have found a place to by my peabeans from as the company I always bought from has discontinued them. I am going to stock up as we all love the white pea beans for homemade Saturday beans.

Well I have laundry in and all the beds made. I have bread rising. And am going to make a peach pie for desert for supper tonight. We will have oven fried chicken and mashed potatoes for supper.

I made a pork roast in the slow cooker last night for supper. It was yummy as I used a new glaze for it. 1cup of BBQ Sauce to 1/2 cup of orange marmadalde mixed well and spread over the top.

We are fianlly catching up with everything around the farm and house. And things are begginning to go back to normal. And I am so happy for that as I am not a person who likes rush. and it is just about time for lambing.

oh by the way I had a great time last weekend watching the birds and recording it online. did anyone else do this? Take care and I wish everyone a blessed and wonderful day.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Well red and pink are everywhere here today, It is nice to see color as we have had storm after storm leaving us with oh so much snow. My beautiful lamp post out on the front step is just sticking out now and most windows are covered. My greenhouse is so dark inside as the windows are too covered. We are getting tired of sholving.

The girls are bouncing around me with all the excitement with their treats and valentines. I have BBQ chicken baking in the oven and I can smell it all though the house.Yummy! I made a cherry cake this morning in the heart shape pan and iced it with pink boiled icing. I found tiny little canied hearts last week at the market and sprinkled them on it.

I have not bolgged to much latly as we all ended up with that terrible tummy flu. so needless to say it has been kinda quite here in our household. But this week we have been making up for it. Two new kids we born and I have another goat ready to go in the next day. Our incubator is now running with call duck eggs in and also slicki chicken eggs as well. The chicks should start hatching around the 17th and the ducks around 26th. The flowers are beggining to make their way through the soil, leaving signs of spring in the greenhouse reguardless of the snow.

We are bringing a new llama to the farm next weekend. He is a 12 year old and comes from a zoo a couple hours away. He is beautiful balck and white. Hubby and the barn helper will be going to him as Jayne is going into the hospital next Friday for dentel surgey. Poor girl. She needs to have her 4 moalers removed and another so they decided to put her inder to do it all at once.

Everything happens at once her at our home. never a dull moment. well I better go and chop some vegs for the rice and get a salad made for supper to go with the chicken. Take care and I wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day.

Monday musings.....

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Well it seems forever since I've blogged. Although I have been here everyday reading all the new happennings in my friends lives.

Our weekend was nice besides the bitter cold. I think the cold has finally broke though, as today was not to bad, and the week is suppose to warm up with rain.(I can't beleive it one day it is -38 and a couple latter its +4. ) know wonder we get sick.  I tryed a new recipe for pot fried chicken from kitty and it was great and tasted so good that we can't wait to thave it again. This morning was a real Monday morning. All things normal. Laundry, breakfast, dishes, more laundry, and clean up(dusting, sweeping, and washing floors) I had a meeting at the school for my mid. child so supper did not get started till latter. But everything fit into place and we had ham,and potato scallop with corn on the cob. Packed hubbys lunchcan and served orange serbert for desert. I served it in crystal goblets and that was all it took to win everyone over, as my family is spoiled ( and I love that about them) as they are used to having home cooked deserts everynight and if not well they just don't. But I guess presentation is everything when it comes to desert anyway. It really makes me feel good knowing how much I please my family by just doing all the little homey things that make our  little loghouse a home.

Tomorrow I need to tend to some barn work that has been put on the back burner for the last little while, with the new arrivels. oh !! that reminds me did I metion I have had two little doe kids born last week that I was not expecting.

I also need to make bread as we are getting low. HB got a small deepfreeze from a neighbour down the road that was moving. FOR FREE!!!! yeah and a nice one too. because it is only small I put it right next to the kitchen and am already using it. We are having one of our smaller turkeys for supper tomorrow, with all the trimmings. I think i'll make butterscoth pie for desert. Its one of Jaynes favorites along with the tomatoe soup I made on sunday. It was great as we were cold after our sleigh ride.

I would also like to get a batch of those pumpkin donuts made of Leighann's. The kids and I can't have just one. The girls and I spent most of Saturday in sewing purses with a bunch of tapestry fabric I bought in a yard sale 2 years ago for $2. They have made three each so far, and are after me to dye some cotton for them so they can make more to match their outfits. My son spent his Saturday in the barn with dad. They sure two of a kind.

Well I better do my nightly barn check before heading to bed. As I can not think of what we will have for breakfast. Maybe pancakes and bacon. This morning we had oatmeal that I put in the slow cooker last night. and toast and jam. Anyhow good night to  you all and my god bless you all.

Monday Musings

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

WOW! another weekend gone again. It was a kinda quite easy going weekend here in the house, HB worked days all weekend and the children helped me house clean their rooms getting rid of some of those toys and cloths that needed to go. I'll take them to goodwill this week when i go to town. The children and I baked some cookies and a cake this weekend as well.As for the barn we are getting ready for kidding time as I have one alpine goat named storm that is about to go in the next day or so. I thought my large goats were only ready to kid around mid feb. but there must have been some hanky panky before hand.oh well, we are ready for them anyways as I put up the heat lamps and got everything ready. It has been so cold here this weekend and we had another storm here on friday as well. Talking about cold temps. It is really cold here today -38 right at the moment. but I have turned on everybodies heat lamps and made sure the barn is warm. The sheep give off so much heat that the barn stays not to bad.

I have a nice warm fire on here in the house and it feels great. I made bread this morning and am waiting on it. I t was a easy menu here this weekend nothing exciting or hard. Friday night was homemade pizza and garlic fingers and donair sauce. Saturday was of course homemade beans and cornbread and hot biscuits with winners. Sunday we were invited to my parents for a lovely turkey supper. They even gave me some turkey to bring home for lunches, as Justin and HB took sandwiches for their lunch and Jill and I will have clubhouses for lunch. Yummy! Jayne my mid child is suffering with a toothache and is home from school today and will go to the dentist this afternoon. So I made her some jello and some of my homemade tomatoe soup.

Monday cleaning is laundry, and dishes,of course. wash down the bathroom and sweep the floors. Make supper. Sherpread pie, garlic bread and green salad. jello and whipped cream.

well I better get going and get my chouses done. Take care and have a blessed day everyone.

The New Computer Has Arrived!!

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Yes, finally after waiting, waiting, and more waiting it came at luch time today.  Please don't take what I said yesterday the wrong way. We have needed a new computer for a couple of years now as ours was in bad shape. We have priced and waited to get a good deal. Like I said two years of waiting. so I don't feel bad about buying this one.

Jill and I went to the libary today. It has been our first time back in three weeks. It was just to long. I got A great new book I can't wait to start. (How to succeed at being yourself) We came home and made a batch of rice krispes squares. She loves helping with the mixing of them. The children enjoyed them so much with their cup of cocoa for a afternoon treat.

Well kiss our lovely warm weather good bye as another storm has hit us again. We are expected to get 8" tonight and freezing rain on top of it. yucky! Well it was nicw while it lasted. I mixed up the starter soil somewhat today for  to start my seedlings. I need to start to clean out the greenhouse next week and get fires on in there. Get it good and warm to plant.

Well after reading about all you ladies making sourdough starter it has got me to try it out AGAIN!!  I had tryed this once before about a year ago and it was not a pretty sight. I think that HB called it a cross between A breaded dragon and a pizza dough. He says that he could not be to postive as he did not get too good of a look as it bounced out of the kitchen and ran for the woods.YEP it was that bad. But I am going to try it again as this time I know I have the help from all the blog when it comes to making it and asking questions.

Tonights supper was homemade pizza (Friday night special) and nochas and my homemade salsa. Saturday is of couse non other then baked beans , hot biscuits, and hot dogs. Desert hhhuuummmmmmm! not yet sure. Any ideas ?

Time To Unwind

Posted in Thyme To Thyme

Today was another one of those busy, crazy, where did the day go kind of days. I did everything from laundry, breakfast, drive the kids to school, take my youngest to her play group, get gas before the price went up again. Went to the bank in the city, and while there paid bills and bought a few things I needed like bananas, milk, baking gums.( we have this great little old market store right in the right place for me and carries all types of spices, baking ing. and fresh produce at good prices) I had to go pay the bill for the septic cleaning from Monday and then picked up Jill and headed home to make luch for the guys and us of course.

I helped HB and his buddy finish up the new chicken coop and then washed floors, more laundry(my bedding) as HB has gone back on nights and I will not be able to wash ours as bedding sheets is my friday thing. Got supper together chicken, rice, and stirfry.  Banana splits for desert. got HB luch can up and him off to work. My daughter Jayne ready for brownies and took her. home to bath the kids and story and off to bed. WOW ! what a day. I forgot to metion the best thing. I also went for a shop at our good will today and got a adorable fall decorative doll for .50 cents and two pairs of boots for $2 for Jayne one for old barn boots (her others fell apart) and a really nice pair of perfect shape cowboy boots. 1 book for .25 cents and a 24 peice puzzle for Jill for .25 cents. not bad at all.

I have decided though that my shopping will be coming to a quick stop a real hault, as I am starting a new outlook you might say. a new way of helping myself and family. I will not shop. I will only go out and buy staples to survive. (milk, ect.) and if I get my cow that will be so much better. Why should I. We all have so much in this house. Each of my three children have enough cloths for every season to cloth 3 of each of them. They all get so many hand me downs in mint condition. HB and myself are the same. So why should I buy if I don't need it? Yes it makes us feel good when we shop and buy all those things we think at the time we need. But what is worse is after coming home and admiting to ourselves that we really did not need that , or that we could have done without and it would not have made the least bit of differance. RIGHT! So with this I have decided to join others and not shop.i can't wait to see how much we will save.

Have a blessed evening and may God be with each and everyone of you.
