The Homestead at Timber Lakes

• Monday, March 9, 2009 - Spring babies

Hey, havent been around in a while, but am happy to announce the arrival of our first spring babies!! Our Alpine goat Gisella had tripletts on 4/5. I was fortunate enough to be there for the entire delivery of each kid. The first was breech and I had to assist, but all babies and mama are fine!
A few minutes old

In other news...I have started all our cole crops indoors in flats. I purchased an inexpensive plastic shelf unit at Lowes and attatched flourescent lights on adjustable chains above.
I started..broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards, escarole, cabbage, and bunching onions.
Many old timers around here swear by planting by the moon, tried it and can you believe all my seeds germinated in 24 hours!
I prayed over them as well, so that could have been the reason ;-)

I've been reading your blog this morning, and I just love it. You have a beautiful place up there, and I'm adding you as a friend so I can "visit" you. I love the mountains. :-)
