a simple kindness from a stranger

Posted on November 25, 2007 at 07:19 PM

While at work today, a lady came through with a carton of eggs, a gallon of milk, and a roll of sausage.  She wanted to make breakfast for her family.  She was very upset at the cost of eggs and milk going up all over the country.  I gave her the total and she did not have enough money.  She chose to put the milk back and drink water instead.  She started rambling about how she was fed up with this world, fed up with the government, and tired of the neverending struggles thrown on us.  I took the milk off the order and the man standing next in line pulled out some money and handed it to me and said give her the milk, everyone has to have milk.  The lady started smiling so big and thanked him over and over again.  She could not stop smiling.  That simple act of kindness turned a bad day into a good day for her.  Now she could bring a proper breakfast home for her family.  I was happy for her and I was deeply touched by what he did for a complete stranger.  Everyone who witnessed this was smiling.  He thought he was helping one person, but the truth is, he brightened everyones day who witnessed this, including me.

My day

Posted on November 24, 2007 at 07:13 PM

Today, I went over to visit my mom and sister.  They are doing good.  They got a new puppy and named it Ginger.  Ginger is a sweet little pup.  My husband went to the hardware store to get materials to build a new door on the well pump shed.  He is also going to insulate the inside and put a light inside to keep it from freezing in the cold weather.  We definately do not want the well to freeze, lol.  When I got home from mom's, my neighbor brought over a cake.  We give her eggs all the time, so to return the favor she brings us some of her baked goods.  She bakes from scratch and is really good at it.  Then we had company for a few hours.  We had a busy day.  Now we are just relaxing.  I'm going to bed early tonight.  I'm so tired.  It's been a busy weekend.  But first, I will go to www.freerice.com  and answer more questions.  I've been answering as many as I can everday to help with world hunger.  Check them out.  It's trivial and your helping world hunger by playing the game.  Good night!

help to end world hunger

Do you want to help end world hunger?  Go to www.freerice.com and play the word game.  It's free, and for every answer you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program.  If you can answer just 50 questions a day, (only took me about 5-10 minutes) for 30 days, then you would have helped to donate 15,000 grains of rice.  Just think how many that would feed if everyone did this.  Go ahead, give it a try.

Giving Thanks to all...

Posted on November 20, 2007 at 07:26 PM

Thanksgiving is about giving thanks.  Therefore, I am going to list everything I am thankful for, for the year 2007.  First off, I am thankful to God for giving us the knowledge and courage and finances to build our house.  I can look back to the past at all the things we thought we wanted that did not work out and know that it was because God had bigger plans for us.  I am so thankful that he gave us the patience to wait til it was the right time for us.  I am thankful for my family and friends.  I am thankful to my friend Stacey and my sister Angie who I can count on to always be there for me when I need someone to talk to.   I am thankful for all the understanding that comes from my father.  He is a very wise man and I know that anytime I need good advice, I can expect that from him.  My Grandmother is also full of wisdom, and I thank her also, because it is her who guided me to a better understanding of God.  I am thankful to my mother and little sister, Kelly.   I am thankful for my husband, for he is my rock.  He has the kindest heart of anyone I know.  I am thankful for my daughter Emily, for she puts a smile on my face everyday.  I am thankful for my employer for giving me my old job back this year.   I am also thankful to my co-workers for the very warm welcome back.  I have so much to be thankful for that is only known between God and myself.  Thank you.

sincerely, Christy

an exciting time of year

Posted on November 19, 2007 at 05:58 PM

Thanksgiving is almost here!  Everyone is in such good spirits, in anticipation of the holidays.  It is a very comforting time of year.  We have got everything we need for our thanksgiving dinner and I'm ready for it.  I can't wait to have all my family over spending time together and eating turkey and dressing, yum!  My daughter has already made her christmas list to send off to Santa, lol.  She has been asking me all week if we can go ahead and put up our christmas tree.  I told her to be patient, we will put it up next week.  She is very excited.  Reminds me of when I was a child and how exciting the holidays were.  Holiday's are a time full of memories to cherish forever, and oh how I love to reminance.  This is a time of thanks and I have a lot to be thankful for, too much to list.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

a busy day

I completely cleaned out my house today from one end to the other.  The only room I have left is the bathroom.  I was determined to get this done before the holidays and I did.  It wasn't too bad.  The laundry is washing now, After I finish that, I will tackle the bathroom and then I will be completely done with all chores.  Well, I do still need to mop, but that can wait until tomorrow.  I'm wore out, but yet I'm still thinking about making pudding. mmmm!  Emily was very helpful with the cleaning.  I think she actually kind of enjoys it.  Milo, my beagle, found a way out of the yard today, so now I have to find how he got out and repair that problem.  He is a little escape artist, which can get very frustrating.  When he gets out of the yard, he runs straight to the back door so I will let him in.  Milo has learned if he breaks out of the yard, I will let him in the house to keep him from running off.  He is using this to his advantage.  I'm afraid to let him roam free because beagles are known for following a scent and getting lost.  I don't want that to happen.  Well, that is all for now.

first freeze today

Posted on November 16, 2007 at 02:36 PM

We had our first freeze of the season.  Our horse's water had a thin layer of ice on the top.  I need to look into those things you can put in their water that will keep it from freezing.  Went and got more feed for the animals today.  We finished priming the siding on our house.  We just have some touching up to do.  Hopefully in the next few weekends we can get the topcoat of paint on and be done.  Painting is not one of my favorite things to do, especially, when having to carry everything up a ladder.  I cannot wait until we finish everything that needs to be done on the outside of the house so we can get started on the inside.  That will be where it gets fun.  Then, you will really be able to see the house take shape.  The county road crew is out working on our road.  We live on a dirt road and they are out there putting tar and pea gravel down.  I will love that, it gets so dusty out here, and our vehicles stay dirty because of the dirt road.  That will stop that problem.

respect

Posted on November 14, 2007 at 09:14 PM

My husband was raised the old fashioned way.  That is one of the things I love about him.  He is very respectful.  One of the things we teach our daughter is to have respect and manners.  I can't stand to see kids talking back to thier parents or being rude to undeserving people.  I work with the public and I see it day in and day out.  I am so thankful Emily does not talk to us that way.  It's sad really because it is not hard to teach.  If you instill that in them while young,  it will become second nature to be respectful.  It should be just as important to teach that to your kids now, as it was 20 years ago.  I'm gonna stop now because I could ramble all night about this, lol.
