Common questions

A CAREFUL STITCH

These are some questions that people ask me all the time.

Question 1:                   How many brothers and sisters do you have?
Answer in head:            Not half as many as I would like.
Answer aloud:             Seven sisters, and hopefully more are coming.
Their response:             (rolling eyes) Oh well I want
                                           less than I have.

Question 2:                   Does your mother make you wear skirts?
Answer in head:            What!!!!
Answer aloud:              No, my mother allows me to wear what I want. I want to wear clothes that I am
                                          feminine in
Their response:             (sighing like I am not there) well I could never wear skirts
                                             everyday.

(I want to ask if they have tried it but have decided that would a horrible thing to do)

Question 3:                   Do you like being home schooled! (they always add) I would die if I could not see
my friends everyday. My parents are so annoying.
Answer in head:            How sad, my family members are my best friends.

Answer aloud:             I could not imagine being away from my loving family all day. My mother is
wonderful to keep me under her guidence all day.

Question 4:                   How many kids do you want?
Answer in head:            Enough to fill a huge house to the rim.
Answer aloud: Twenty six one for each letter of the alphabet

There is not normally a response to this because they are to busy looking at me like I just fell off a turnip truck.

If you have any more questions that you always get add a comment with them. I would love to read about it. I pray that I do go against the grain just as Jesus did when walking the earth.

My favorite is: Are they all yours?

Answer in head - Well, considering they all look alike I couldn't have possibly picked them up on the side of the road or in the woods as my 3 yro says.

Answer aloud - Why yes they are, with a polite nod of my head and a big smile!

I'm starting to get asked what I'm going to do after highschool. I'm afraid I'm not very good at being respectful with my answer.

Question:
Where are you going to college?

Answer in head:
I don't think most people should waste their time and money on college. I definitely don't think girls should go.

Answer out loud:
I'm not going to college.

Next inevitable question:
Well what are you going to do then?

Answer in head:
What every girl should be doing.

Answer out loud:
Staying home and helping my parents until I get married.

Nest inevitable question:
Any prospects yet? :with grin:

Answer in head:
Duh! I'm not old enough yet!

Answer out loud:
:with a chuckle: No.

You have got such a back bone to not only stand up for what you believe in but to also speak out about it. I admire you greatly.

I too often say my "in my head" responces out loud . . . . . not such a good thing ususally.

The typical remark I get about our large family (7 children) is: "My, you have your hands full!!!" and I respond with: "Yes, and it is far better than having my hands empty." I usually do not get further questions after that. But when I do it is typically: "Are you Mormon or Catholic or something?"

It amazes me that perfect strangers fell it necessary to inquire (so boldly) as to my personal life. I have had a man ask me (seemingly in much sincerity) if I knew how this happens. And here is when one of my "In my head comments" slipped out and embarrassed us both.

Many Blessing to you; CarrieAnn

Sunday, May 18, 2008 - I can relate

I'm always getting asked what I plan to do when I 'grow up'. In the form of; "what collage are you thinking of attending?" and "what do you want take?" or "be" when I get older. They always look at me strangely when I say; "whatever God wants me to be."
But, oh yea, I can totally relate with the questions you're asked. Our answers are acutely similar. :-)
Oh, and another question I was asked (when I was 13!) was; "are all these children yours?!!" when I was taking my troop of siblings to the bathroom in a department store. Sakes.

Hmm.. strange, but I'm always asked the same questions!!
One question that my siblings and I are always asked is: "Do you always act this good??"

answer in head: you should see us be goofy/crazy at home!!

answer out loud: "not ALL of the time!"

funny what weird things people ask you, even when they don't know you!! There is a health food store that we shop at, and the employees ALWAYS tell us that we are the perfect family and that we are their role models... don't know what in the world we are doing, but it must be something good!!

About Me

I am in love with the Lord. Of corse not on my own accord, but only because he first gave me more love then I even now give him. I was blessed with an abundance of sisters, but only live with 4. My blessed mother is homeschooling me through my seinor year of high school right now. With my parents wisdom I am going down the road of court ship, striving to show a new way of living to our sinful world. <
