I did type one up a while ago, but it was deleted! There is nothing more aggravating than writing a long entry and having it disappear. </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>When I got here, I was surprised to see my friend Jenny! She lives in Germany and I only get to see her once or twice a year. We were walking through Wal-Mart when I saw her. You know when you see someone who you think there is no way of seeing for a long time! I looked at her and was not sure if it was her or my imagination. When I looked again I knew it was her. Needless to say there was quite a bit of squealing in Wal-Mart.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>She only stayed for two weeks, because she had to get back and get an apartment. We had a good time! </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>I am still in California for a week, then I am going to Nevada. I will not get home for another few weeks, but I am dieing to see my family. </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>I want to end this post in a way that I hope to get lots of commits!!!! I was traveling alone both ways, so it did feel a little strange. <br /> <br /> Anyway, I was in the SeTac Airport in Seattle waiting for my flight. I was getting bored of just sitting (who doesn't when you spend 3 1/2 hours waiting for your plane to come in) so I decided to check the screens to see if my flight was ontime. Since SeTac is an international airport flights come in from all over, so lots of planes means lots of flights which, inturn, means lots of screens. <br /> <br /> So while I am standing there looking for my flight among hundreds of other flights on 18 glowing screens, I began to whisper the flight names aloud to myself. I geuss I was not being as quite as I thought I was, because when I was about halfway through the names, the woman next to me who was looking for her own flight, and who just happened to be french, turned to me and asked very politely, "Where did you get your accent? It is very pretty." <br />It was a strange question, I had never been asked that before. What ran through my head was, "Are you crazy? Americans do not have accents! Everyone here sounds like this, don't you ever watch movies?" <br />Then it hit me, she was french, of course I had an accent to her, where she comes from, everyone sounds like her. She probably did not think she had an accent, when everyone she new spoke the same. So I turned to her and replied, ".....Oregon." <br /> <br />Odd reply, I know, but why not? If people in Alabama can have their own accent, why couldn't people from Oregon. Since everyone I know sounds the same, how am I to know if I have an accent? <br /> <br />When I walked away something sank in, it was an odd thing, but my brain began to scream it, "You may live in Oregon, but you were born and lived seven years in California! Maybe you don't have an Oregon accent at all, but rather a California accent?" <br />I began to feel guilty (I think it was from lack of food, I hadn't eaten since 5 o'clock that morning), I had just lied to some poor french woman that I would never see again to correct my answer. She would go through live thinking that all people from Oregon sounded like me, but one day she would go to California and here the accent and know I lied! <br /> <br />"Mary-Ann, snap out of it! You sound like a crazy person, this woman doesn't care if you were born on Mars, she just liked the way your voice sounded. Now stop it and go and get some food!" I obeyed my thoughts and went to Burger King. <br /> <br />I hope you enjoyed my story. Before heading home, we stopped at the beach and spent the morning there. We then started for home, hoping to make it a good distance before stopping for the night. However, everyone was very tired, and very uncomfortable with the sand sticking to us, so Mom and Dad had to stop at a hotel. They stopped at the first one they'd seen in miles. <br /> <br />It was a creepy hotel! At first glance, the clerk's desk had inch thick Plexiglas all around it, all the furniture in the lobby was nailed to the floor, and there were no pictures on the walls. We were desperate to wash off, so my parents decided to stay anyways. <br /> <br />On further inspection, we found that the in the rooms, there were holes in the walls, holes in the sheets, the sink leaked, and the hot tube was a gross bright green! In spite of this, we stuck it out, and went on our way the next morning. <br /> <br />Upon driving around a bend in the road, we saw dozens more hotels. We had spent the night in a crazy hotel when there were normal ones right around the bend. <br /> <br />That's the end of my tale.
